Telkom ADSL speed upgrade planned

Speed increases just give the ISPs more "exchange congestion" excuses.

All I fking want is my "current" adsl to work. I have done everything including posting on their Facebook page amongst the 1000's of others and hellopeter over and above sms, online, and email but all I get is a few different reference numbers and nothing else. All it fking needs is to be reset.

I've tried calling various times but get gatvol after holding on for 30min.
I pay for my 4Mbps line and now others are getting upgraded at probably no additional cost and I pay and get zip.
Rant off.

Feb moved to Apr?

KZN is usually last on the list anyway so I'll expect it when I see it.

Biggest question though is will TI play ball and adjust the uncapped limits accordingly? Ranger?

I've whined about these upgrades in each of the previous article comments because it's just compounded the congestion problem that is nearing its fourth year at my exchange.

However, the Telkom upcoming upgrade map has in the last few weeks switched my area from "Red" to "Blue" so now my tone can be more positive.

BRING IT, MADAFAKAS!

What you mean "adjust"?

Line speed and account speed are unrelated.

Line upgrades /= account upgrade.

Previous upgrades required little or no prep work. This time it is different.

Before they can go ahead they have to replace the ATM backhaul links with metro-ethernet links. In some cases they also have to replace backplanes on the exchange equipment to enable improved backhaul speeds.

This why it has been pushed out from the original December date...

It sounds like infrastructure has been neglected for many years and they are finally getting their **** together. We are the laughing stock of global broadband community

Where's the other licensed fixed line operators?
you have a valid point. It also annoys me that local isps dont have their own infrastructure and piggyback off telkom.Hopefully things change with Neotel and Vodacom.

I chatted to a Telkom techie the other day and man, the scale of the network upgrade is quite impressive. That they're pulling it off in a semi-reasonable time frame is fantastic and I only wish they were attending to the Jeffreys Bay exchange in Nautilus street sooner.

KM2,

You are referring to an upgrade map... care to share the url please?

According to the map the entire Meyerton is still under consideration to be upgraded. Excluding the area around the Oprah Whinfrey Academy for Girls. That area is allready running at 20 to 40 mbs. Seems its who you know...

Most of my area to, except a few Green patches sigh

No point getting excited about this until telkom says so directly.

What does this mean for people on 10Mb/s? Will we be upgraded to 20mb/s, or are we going to be left on 10?

Was in colorado park, mitchells plain not too long ago and saw 6 telkom vans attending to cables. This was on a sunday
