Ok, so I'm hugely miffed after upgrading from a 2Mbps uncapped Telkom connection and getting an average download speed of 1.65 Mbps, to a 4Mbps uncapped Telkom connection and getting a whopping 2,2Mbps average speed.

Whether or not I have some problem is something I discuss here.

For this thread, please just share:
1: Your average download speed during daytime hours (realistic, not optimum for bragging rights).
2: Your line speed.
3: Whether you're capped or uncapped.
4: Your ADSL provider
5: Your area

Maybe we'll all learn something from this: whether switching providers is likely to help, how much better capped is generally compared to uncapped, and the real-world increases between different line speeds.

To kick it off:
1: 2.2Mbps
2: 4Mbps
3: Uncapped
4: Telkom
5: Cape Town

1: 3.52Mbps
2: 4Mbps
3: Uncapped
4: Crystal Web
5: Eastern Cape
Aargh to both of you!!!! So that proves that something really is screwy on my side. I guess another phonecall to Telkom is in order...

1: 3.6Mbps
2: 4Mbps
3: Capped
4: Vox (that free data you get with the Samsung TV)
5: North-Eastern Freestate (small town, only one exchange covers entire area)

Ok, so while I'm still not as lucky as the other posters here, I'm feeling a lot happier after Telkom fixed my basic issue.

[RE-DO]
1: 3.12Mbps
2: 4Mbps
3: Uncapped (my guess is that a capped account would yield marginally higher speeds during the day)
4: Telkom
5: Cape Town

Glad you got sorted.
:)
Thanks Hectic ... this is just another one of those things that Telkom could easily simplify for its users through a proper notification policy.

Maybe occasional e-mails saying: 'WARNING: Based on our records, your line and data package speeds do not correspond. If you are aware of this, please click here to disable this notification."

Customer-centricity goes a long way, and is too frequently ignored.
