Was watching some of the cricket via the Supersport site and saw this message at the top of the screen.

DSTV.jpg

Do the exec at DSTV phone each other in the morning.

"Good morning Dave"
"Good morning Sipho"
"How do we pi$$ off our clientele even more?"
"Ooh I know. Let's make it mandatory that you now have to have a PVR decoder to stream your sport online, nevermind that you're already paying an exorbitant amount to enjoy the privilege"
"Brilliant idea! Bonuses for everyone!!"

MyBB eds, could you perhaps do a piece on what exactly this change is all about and what it entails?

You still have DSTV?

Do yourself a favour...get rid of "multi" choice.

You can get your sport(and everything else) online for much less.

No ads.

No repeats.

Sorry, should've specified in OP. I'm not a DSTV subscriber. I use my folks' smartcard number and stream just sport at home (as well as going the Netflix/online route for everything). This is going to affect me though as if I were a subscriber. But my annoyance is also aimed at DSTV who look for any excuse to fleece their paying support base. I want to know what reason they have for doing this.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. Lately these MyBB "articles" have been advertisements for Monochoice...

Insanely petty.

Can't wait for their demise.

So if I understand this correctly, using someone else's details at another address to stream will only work in future if the dstv premium subscriber has a specific decoder? In other words, some type of pvr? If they have an older, non-pvr, decoder, but still pay premium subs, this precludes them (or their "pals" at another address ;) ) from streaming?

In other words, despite the fact that you are paying top-dollar premium subs, you're treated like a second class citizen because you choose not to have a pvr. Please someone tell me this idiocy is not what multichoice are contemplating...

They want the pvr access fee. I think it's R70.

The ones who have come to their senses...paying almost R700 a month just for the sport is still insane

I would if Telkom can take less than 3 months and counting, to install a line at my place. Then there's still the question of the app - my WDTV doesn't have a Sky Sports app, and I'm not sure of a media player that does. Not keen on XBMC as I like my setup the way it is...
