Anyone noticing speed upgrades on Telkom ADSL ?

Hi guys,

is anyone noticing any speed upgrades on their Telkom ADSL line ?

when i left for work this morning i was downloading at my normal 1040 KB/s but when i got back home i noticed that i was going at 1200 Kb/s on average..initially i thought it was just a burst but it was sustained till the download was done. I went into my router and saw that my line is now 12mb..,up from 10mb.
Is it part of those upgrades that were rumoured ?

just curious..
 
Interesting. I also noticed my line is syncing at a higher speed. In PTA though.
 
Also noticed my line is syncing at full speed, ping to my exchange is much higher for some reason?
 
If they doing free upgrades again, then I'll be chuffed. I'm also feeling a quicker speed tonight, but not sure. I'm in the Cape Town area

Me too. I'm about to upgrade my line, but if I'm been bumped up, then great stuff from Telkom.

Unless somebody fell asleep, an accidentally hit the upgrade switch lol

It will be a win if they upgrade the line for you. Lets hope something good will come for christmas :)

Yeah I'm been bugging Charl about when the next round of free upgrades will happen. He said it's not up to him, or that he knows when. But I dunno, tonight Just feels alot snappier.
 
So nobody else feeling this? Or is everybody sleeping, and we're the only ones on the internet tonight lol
 
My modem is syncing at 5mb/s instead of the normal 4mb/s, but speedtest does not reflect the increase in speed. Not sure what Telkom is up to.

Very intriguing this. I'm keen to hear if any more people are experiencing this.

While I would appreciate more speed, this isn't really an upgrade to get excited about. If it was 10mb/s I would smile :D

That may explain why the speed is suddenly optimal on my 2Meg line.

The speed graph suddenly appeared MUCH smoother as well. So they have provisioned 4meg which means that 2Meg runs at full speed now?
 
Just as test, I could never smoothly play a 720p file. And rightly so with my 2mbps line I shouldn't be able to. I've just tested, and 1-2 sec caching and plays smoothly. Well a little jitter here and there, but something is up tonight.
