New WhatsApp update – Delete sent messages

But they would still have seen it. Would have been cool to add a time delay to messages you send being transmitted.
 
To much updates I had been already using for years...

No one is going to implement that. It goes against the most basic point of 'instant' messaging.

Telegram at least gives you 48 hours to delete messages and doesn't provide any notification of having done it. Countless times I've copied the content of a message, deleted it, pasted and corrected a typo or something else and sent again. Takes a sec and no one is aware that you've fixed a message. Nice and seamless.

You've never wanted to delay sending a message because the recipient is in a different time zone / asleep?

Nope. It's not my fault if they don't know how to configure their notifications while they're asleep. I'd be more inclined to email them if the message wasn't urgent, or just make a mental note to message them at a more appropriate time.

Providing a time delay for messages is probably not worth the effort for any IM to provide, considering how few people will find it useful and how it will complicate the UI.

10 bucks says it will be implemented by Telegram first and then WhatsApp et al will follow eventually....

Telegram might, as they're always thinking of unusual ways to further convenience their users. We'll both probably be dead before WhatsApp copies it though. They've been teasing stickers and deleted messages for what seems like eternity already, and only the latter is finally creeping through.
 
Man, I just can't begin to express how much more convenient Telegram is over Whatsapp. Seriously, feels like
Whatsapp is stuck in the dark ages.

I agree. It's depressing that WhatsApp is the ubiquitous platform and not Telegram. The latter is objectively superior in pretty much every way.

What's even more depressing is when you open Telegram to send a superior message and there's no one to send it to.
