Hi guys,

I need a cheapie hopefully not above the R110-150k mark.
My requirements are :
  • Economy with Fuel
  • Possibly Automatic
  • Comfortable seats (have some back problems)
  • Cheap to maintain as this will be the daily

I'm not sure about the older automatics and I'm not too knowledgable.
Manual wise I'm considering an Etios or Picanto. Maybe the Ford Figo but yeah.. not sure where to start.

Suggestions please guys.

R110 to 150k and you want to buy an Etios? Come on man buy yourself a proper car with the money. I'll be back with suggestions.

Thanks comrade, you'll never imagine how distressed I become when someone wants to spend their hard earned money on something like an Etios.

Well he didn't know where to start

You do get very nice automatic Picantos for R150k (1.2Ex, 2012 - 2016). Might take some shopping around.

No Automatic though. Comes with all the bells and whistles though except cruise control. Automatic climate control, 5" infotainment screen, Harman Kardon soun, ABS dual airbags and some other safety features, full automatic windows front and back, including electronic side mirrors etc etc.

Car is really spacious inside and comfortable and has a nice soft drive. Also has ECO, CITY and SPORT driving modes.

Have had mine for almost 1.5 years and no issues. Had first service last year Nov and did not have to pay for anything.

EDIT: Oh.....one thing that could be a issue for some people is the lack of storage space for water bottles.

All advice is given with helping you in Mind. The decisions is ultimately yours. Just make sure you buy a car brand with a resale value. Your best decision is based on the advice given by the forumites here. With the current economy fuel saver cars is over priced. Gazz Guzzlers is plenty to have. Just my Coin tossed. Heads or Tails

Since we all know that car parts sharing is a thing even between different manufacturers, would dealers pass out on an opportunity to price a part higher since it's a Daihatsu part even if they know the same part is used on a Yaris? Or as long as the part is shared the price will be the same regardless which car make is intended for?

You can buy some really nice used luxury cars for that money, unless you prefer to roll in an econobox.
