Need a cheapie. Suggestions?

Sandero. The amount of kit you get as standard would rival more expensive cars...

Sorry, I but I would rather suggest the Lexus mentioned earlier than my Sandero Stepway Dynamique, and I bought mine brand new.

You're not going to get the same quality finishes as you would in a more premium car obviously.

But it's not bad for the price, and certainly far better than it's competitors like the Vivo and Etios...

I hate the engine, or more the fact that they didn't use an electronic aircon...

That would be an issue for any car that doesn't output a decent amount of power. Especially in a budget price range where an electronic aircon wouldn't be used to cut down on costs.

So the question should basically be whether he's looking for new or used...

I thought it had the same turbocharged engine as the Clio? The Clio gang seem to be very happy in their thread, or does the Clio comes with an electric aircon?

Exactly the same engine. It's actually a great little engine. Matches or outperforms it's rivals in performance, with better fuel economy.

If the issue is that the aircon saps engine power, that isn't the engine's fault. It's the type of aircon that was chosen to keep costs down...

What about a 2017/2018 demo Fiat Panda?
Some go ridiculously cheap when compared to list price.

Not sure if a 2cylinder tickle your fancy, but will come with a 3 year service plan.

I’m sorry but the Clio 0.9 doesn’t outperform it’s competitors, Clio output is 66kw, Ford gets 92kw and Opel 85. Yes it’s nippy but the low down torque is non existent compared to rivals.

Which Ford and with Opel? Which new R150k Ford or Opel gets those figures?

The Sandero's competitors are the Vivo, Etios, Figo etc.

And it's not just the power. Hence you have to look at actual performance figures. I did say comparable or outperforms, not just outperforms...

2007 Peugeot 407 V6 3.0 ST Executive automatic with only 44,500 Km on the clock. From personal experience PSA South Africa seems to have more local stock on 407 SW parts than the sedan or coupe.

R129 000 for a car under 50,000km - bargain. Plus you're owning a bit of history, the last Pug V6

My Clio has 88KW. No idea what you are on about. *♂️

The Sandero has has a three pot motor that produces 66kw
The Clio has the same three pot motor but that produces 70kw
The Clio is also available with a four pot motor that produces 88kw.

So the Sandero has the same motor as the three pot Clios but it tuned differently.

Just getting the facts straight.
