Major cities... ALWAYS....

ALL these companies should stop getting stuff out to the major cities, they havent EVEN given coverage for their new "Wimax" in areas other than MAJOR CITIES :mad::mad::mad:

Major cities have everything, we others just have to struggle with K@K always.
 
Because maybe some cities arent profitable and thats why the concentrate on the "major cities"?

unless of course a deal has been done whereby vodafone has bought telkom out and telkom has sold its fixed line business to a BEE consortium

What I tried to say was, WOW the cities get everything, we wait and wait and wait for useless people to let us know if / WHEN they are going to do Wimax in our region, and now I hear something NEW is already on its way . You guys are lucky :P haha

We have to settle for 1) Telkom ADSL to be installed after 5 + months, or 2) HSDPA - LOL or 3) THE MOST USELESS WISPS ever :mad: As a gamer 'trying' to play online it is VERY frustrating..

Just be grateful that we city dwellers let you guys in small towns have even that. Remember we can take it away any time we please ;)
 
Next time you trek up to JHB look at how many businesses are up here and how much money there is.
Yes the "dorps" have grwoth but your margin is always going to be at the business centers.

I was very hopeful about Vodacom, but I am beginning to give up on them too. It is quite clear that they have decided to continue ripping us off. They were to launch wimax on the first of June, using the WBS licence, now I hear that it is actually WBS who will be trialing wimax. And the so-called offers are nothing but rubbish again : 5 gigs @ 512kbps and 10 gigs @ 1024. As usual, there is no mention of prices, with the claim that they are waiting for ICASA approval. And the launch date has been pushed back to August now.

So, all in all it is clear that Vodacom is back-tracking from providing wimax. And I am quite sure the reason is to try to protect the hspa offering, which is expensive.

A few things I don't want to hear - 1. I don't want to hear anything about their revenues or subscriber growth, because I am not a shareholder with them, I am a customer. 2. I don't want to hear anything about WBS. These are the same people who are running the deplorable iburst and nothing good can come from them.

What I want to hear is an admission from Vodacom that they had intended to give us a decent product, but they realised that more money could be made by screwing us instead. That, proper wimax rollout was going to reveal how laughable products like 64, 128, 256 kb 'leased-line-replacements' are.

South Africans should have done something really bad, to deserve such treatment from every company that ever gets a chance to.

You would think that all these company managers attended the same school, where their major subject was "How to screw the South African customer 101."

You should see how cheap the same companies are outside the borders, but as soon as they have to give us service, then they begin their nonsense.

I am so disgusted!

Then at least we can ignore internet, it's better having nothing, THAN having crap :( so no I am not greatful for that in our 'dorps' :p

At least prices are set nationally so competition in the big cities will hopefully lower the price of your ADSL.

And completely misinformed.

The structure that's in place around WiMax with Vodacom and WBS is EXACTLY the structure that was in place and announced from day 1. Maybe do some reading on this forum to get clarity how it all fits together.

The one thing that has slipped on WiMax is the launch date and it's primarily a supply issue on the CPE side.

I've been running WiMax for a few months now but I had to lock my door to make sure my CPE is not repossessed.
