Vodacom mobile surfing debate rages on

“The launch of Vodacom's Mobile Internet service has been well received by customers as a whole, and the vast majority of Vodacom customers would have experienced a significant improvement in the way they access the Internet from their cellphones,” the company said.

“The launch of this service brings South Africa in line with several European countries including France and England, where this form of mobile internet was launched about a year ago to increase access to websites from lower-end WAP-enabled cellphones.

What a bunch of BS, which idiot said this?

“These website owners can request Vodacom to “whitelist” their website. Once a website has been whitelisted by Vodacom the website will immediately be removed from the content adaptation service,” the cellular provider said.

Dear Vodacom,

Please whitelist all websites beginning with "http...." :D

Thanks

Gary :p

Nothing like a little opt-out marketing to drum up impressive, but false, statistics.

and let those websites that want to have CA done for them opt in,not users

The user has no clue about what Vodacom is doing to the content and will only realise that when they visit the MTN site that the CA also may have applied a little content altering such as replace the MTN word with the VODACOM word :)

So my phone's internet wasn't broke for a week? Everything work liked it should? Only according to vodacom. I just want a public apology from vodacom for their poor implementation. It works better now but the point is for a long time i paid the same price and it didn't. All i wanted was vodacom stating publicly that we'll experience difficulties for a few days. But nothing of that sorts. All they did is proclam the re invented the mobile web. When they were cleary miles from it. So that's my problem and why vodacom lost a lot of respect from me.

How more 'public' do you want my posts in the relevant thread?

sounds like somethings they totally buggared up

In The media. The same place where vodacom proclaim the re invented the web. On their web site. The places that matters. A forum hardly qualify as an public apology.

In anyway i can't remember where you onced apologised on behalf of vodacom. I only recall that you now and then said that you quietly disagreed with how it vodacom implemented it. So that was your opinion and not from vodacom. An apology? Not yet.

I think you guys are going a little bit far expecting V3G to apologize. He is here as a favour from the company. He does not have to be here, and is not a PR spokesperson for the company. You expect him to make a public apology somewhere public, but so far (I am assuming) you have only complained on this forum. If you expect an apology, then go and demand it in a more public fashion, or call Vodacom Customer Service and ask for a manager to speak to (if you have not already done so).

I am also P'd off with Vodacom over this issue, but play the ball... not the man... ok?

I want Vodacom to apologise not the guy on the forum. :D I am not stupid and don't expect him to apologise. Sorry if I missed the part where I wanted Vodacom3G to apologise.

Yep i also want vodacom to apologize and i have in fact contacted them more than just a few times about it. And they keep failing to help me. I only commented on v3g since he claimed that he did even though i did not ask him to apologise. I have nothing against him and already told him that i only have respect for him. So this has nothing to do with him. We only want a public apology from vodacom not something to big to ask. If they write it correctly they gain a lot more from it than just keeping quiet and hoping people will forget.

Then perhaps you should have phrased this a little bit better?

My point was... that you expect Vodacom to apologise somewhere else, but not on this forum... but as far as we can tell, you have only demanded an apology here. Anyways.... I don't want an apology, a "company" apologising to me means nothing.... I want them to fix it... to make it better, or take it out of the way. That is better than any apology.
