In light of all that, what's the verdict? Sure, buy this card if you just can't spend that extra ~$20. This might be the 4850 or 4870 of the sub $100 market, but the problem is that the sub $100 market still just doesn't provide the kind of value we would like to see compared to the rest of the market. It's easy to argue that people pay a premium for the best performance out there, but it just doesn't make sense on the lower end.

For the people who need a card that fits this niche and price point, the 4670 is the card to pick up unless there's a great sale or rebate offered on a higher performing part. With lower prices, small fluctuations can really stir things up. But the 4670 gets our nod when it comes to current street prices and AMD's suggested pricing.

They did mention $70. I assume for the 512Mb version. There are also a 1Gb version.

I'm not sure hey

Check out the 9600gso for 1k, this is more than likely the best low end on the market.

Look at the graphs. Expect for 1/2 games, the 4670 is either on par or better.

Eish yea i just checked, i saw they said they comparing the 4650 with a 9500gt and assumed the 9600gso would be better :p

wow, that lil gpu can fly! my word, it's doing all that with only 32gb/s of bus, and a smaller core(or less transistors)!

I wander if a HD4690 will be released (this card with a 256bit bus)

maybe just maybe will get this card for my brother. I wish they had cod bench there but o well seeing as it can run oblivion it should be able to run cod.

I would be interested what the pricing of this card is like here.

It has seemed to me in the past that graphics card prices are often ~10 times the US price in ZAR.

i.e. At $80 hopefully (really holding thumbs for this) it will be about R800.

Any tech buffs have an opinion on that?

Also, any ideas on when it will become available here?

EDIT: It dawned on me, when is the 1GB RAM one supposed to come out? Think it will offer much performance increase?

Not bad at all, especially at that price point :)

I agree, we usually see hardware retailing at 10x - 12x the advertised Dollar price.

it downed on me, with that card you could use the worst psu that is bundled with a case and it won't be stressed :D. this seems like quite the impressive card, and if it is advertised properly, it will do wonders for ati. Watch their shares jump :D

So apparently one of the local suppliers has the 4670/50 in stock, but no e-tailers have it on their webstores' yet.

I think they doing it because they milking the HD4800 series for every last drop, so they gonna delay the HD4600 series for a lil while so that they can still sell the HD4800 series at a slightly inflated price...

The HD4600 will come in ! around R1000 and with a reputation of it's big brother, it will sell a fair number...

Still no update on this card, wonder when dealers will start listing it on their sites
