R 99 Neotel service

I don't mind the contract , I just wish I had coverage!!!!!
 
This sounds good. Now they just need to focus on getting their services out to their consumers.

Also, what happens if you have a 24 month contract and 12 months into the contract you move to an area with no coverage? Since 98% of the country isn't covered I think this could be a valid question. RPM, do you think you can get clarification?
 
well then you pay R600 for the device, and if you want to cancel, you do so. I don't think that you would be paying something in as you already paid for the device.

If you are on the contract you get R25 discount pm which will result in you bill being R74 pm. That is R50 pm cheaper than Telkom and the call costs is about half of that of Telkom.

This spells danger to Telkom and all other Mobile Networks!! Competition here we come!
 
R81.92 per GB for data. (1024 MB * R0.08) so thats not cheap by any means. Add to that that you get booted from the net when someone calls you and its a "no thanks" situation.
 
The lack of coverage will be Neotel's downfall. Why don't they partner with Vodacom, and use their towers? Maybe throw in some connectivity in the deal?
 
Thats currently my biggest issue with Neotel..

I would take their service, but I need coverage...

2nd issue is of course the Ethernet device.... I need one of those.
 
for me it is the fact the i cant be on the internet and phone at the same time...i actually just cant get over how they would release a product like this.

broadband is supposed to be 'always on" not "always on except when phoning". :(
 
8c a MB works about to R245.76 for 3GB (I'm assuming vat incl)

On the Telkom site 3GB costs you R239 :confused:

Aren't Neetel supposed to be cheaper??? Am I missing something?

I'd rather take Telkom then thanks - they cheaper and they always on as opposed to Neetels always on except when your on the phone!

Yes, but you are not paying for an ADSL line += R150 and this option is still R20 cheaper than a telkom line so your saving R170 a month. Neotel are saying well here is your new telephone service and if you want to surf the net, we will only charge you for the bandwidth and not rip you off for the privilege of being a netizen.

EDIT: But reading this thread again I see how petty a lot you guys are. Get a life. Start comparing Apples with Apples before you make your next post

One would think they would have a contractless data only option by now. I dont give a flying fig how many free minutes and sms's you throw in, I want the thing for data only. I have a cellphone with free minutes and sms's if i want to talk to someone.

Offer me something with data only, ethernet port, no contract and coverage in my area and i will sign up today.

We've seen what good that has done for Virgin and CellC.
Wouldn't be a good move.
They've already invested so much in their own infrastructure, even though its not at full potential yet.

Mmm on 24 month contracts.
Wasn't there a ruling from Icasa that operators should be providing shorter contracts?
Or is that the one that VC threatened legal action with and had Icasa backstepping?
 
I wonder what speeds they offer on this service. i.e. lite or prime speeds.

If it's prime speed then it's a really good deal. It could end up saving me alot of money every month.

Well technically they dont sell it as broadband.

What really frustrates me is that when the operators start hacking on about their great new braodband products and how they are alternatives to Telkoms fixed line adsl. Plain fact is they arn't.
