808 MTN Number not working

Have MTN discontinued their 808 service - keeps giving me "The number you have dialed is incorrect...."
 
Working for me, although I did get a message saying the call centre will be down from Saturday, 17th January, 9pm until Monday, 19th January, 6am.

The number is only available to MTN SP I think. If you are with a different SP then you need to call their call centre.
 
MTNSP 808 - worse than Telkom?

Got a nice little call on Friday from some recorded lady that they are going suspend my service for non-payment. I'm a bit surprised because I have a debit order on my credit card with plenty of head room.

Phoned them that morning and waited 45min before putting the phone down and this morning I gave up after 25min. So now my phone is suspended and I refuse to spend more than 15min waiting for my call to get answered.

Is there anyway to get some support out of these palooka's without wasting 1/2 of my day away?

PS: MTNSP is on my lists of services NOT to renew after the contract expires.

They are ****ing useless, I was on hold for 20min then they told me the system was off. Later I phoned again waited for 15min and then 24 and then 25min. Only after another 28min I got hold of someone. So this gives me 2 hours and 52 ****ing minutes wasted off my time. I just wish there was something that I can do because this is not service. I now going on about it here wont help abit, but atleast I got it off my back. :(:(:(:(:(
 
MTN's service is useless, i also been trying to get hold of them and no luck! And im not prepared to wait hours just to order a frikken phone!
 
that's unfortunate, and weird. . . i've only ever got good and quick service from MTNSP. Maybe try phoning not during peak times, although whether its peak or not they should be helping you sooner.
 
Last night I figured while driving home, I'd try again. My route is Centurion->Rivonia (pick up wife)->Bromhof. Usually take me an hour. I kid not, got home and still no answer. Then after another 20min I got disconnected!

So record so far is 1 hour and 20 min.

MTN, you've already lost me as a customer. Question now is, do you want my money for the remaining time left on the contract?
 
MTNSP is having an accounts problem this month & it appears to "solve" the problem they suspended all our contracts.
does anyone know if we can use this to cancel our contracts with no penalties. i am way past pissed....
 
Is it just me or are MTNSP not answering their calls at all?

Yesterday, I held on for so long, my battery died. It was from about 17:40 to 19:20. 1 hour and 40mins. am i doing something wrong? I dial 808 off my cell; it then repeats my cell number, I press 1, then I receive a crap load of spam messages about 16202 (which I can't access now), their new bank offer etc etc.

I've also sent them an email yesterday morning, no response so far. I guess I need to go to one of their shops this weekend, but that means I'll be without a phone until Saturday.

does anyone know if we can use this to cancel our contracts with no penalties.
They must be breaching the contract by not supplying the services.

I applied to have my number ported from AutoPage to MTNSP. After waiting 2 weeks for my contract to be approved I ended up DRIVING out to HD to get the matter sorted out. As I wasn't prepared to wait 30mins for the call centre to pick up!

They sorted the issue out in 10min ! BUT now I sit with a new phone and sim but its not active ! Its been 2 days now !

Hi Dr Data, may I ask what the issues that MTN are experiencing are being caused by? I've generally had a good experience with MTN (Except for the occasional hiccup which is to be expected from a company of MTN's size.) but there do seem to have been a lot of issues of late.
