Here's the experience I'm having after signing up with OW this month.

I took 10 gigs local with the 192 OpenBrowse.

The Good

- 1 gig international was super. It was unexpected and truly a godsend.

- Pricing. At R130 for 10 gigs with the added perk of international browsing, that's a bargain, relatively speaking.

The Bad

- International browsing is a 50/50 experience. Sometimes it is fatally slow and at other times it is decent enough.

The Really Bad

- Newsgroups. I can't download anything from newsgroups when trying to connect to the IS newsgroup. This should be fine as it's all local.

- International downloading on weekends are criminally sluggish. I get speeds in bytes per second!

So, is this all normal on the OW wagon?

yeah i am having similar issues.
At first it was amazing.International and local + newsgroups was awesome

Now intl is epically slow.....pretty much dialup and i have no access to IS news server.... :(

Hey Friends

I'm afraid we do not run or control the News Servers. This is run by IS.

Are you having problems with your actual accounts?

This is my experience with the " Opentime! " download period, which effectivley makes it a browse only account. And that is still damn cost effective, but it's really dissapointing when its advertised with the benefits of Opentime, benefit's I've personaly yet to see.

If not recieving the full advertised benefits counts as a problem, yeah :(

Just sent a email to Keoma.
Experiencing slow internet problems..
Newsgroups - same problem ..
I think my problem is related to OpenRouter..

I am on the R229 30gigs Local + 512kbps openbrowse.

Open time download speed is not bad at all from beginning of April. Got 40+KB/S minimum. Proxy sometime does go off for 5 minutes but besides that I am very happy.

How exactly does the OpenRouter software work.
Should I just open it, press "start proxy" and then all should be good?
Because it isn't exactly working for me.

Edit:

Ok now when I open the OpenRouter and sign in, it gives me this message:

Proxies fail test - proxies not available!

i exited openrouter for the meantime and i am waiting for a reply from mrBEEP..

Hey Friends

There is currently a backbone problem causing this.

I will keep this thread updated.

I do apologise.

Quick update:

The major failure at MTN Business is still being attended to.

I apologise for the delay!

I'm loving OpenWeb. Got 10 gigs local IS and 4 gigs SAIX for roughly the same price I was paying before for only 3 gigs SAIX. The OpenWeb SAIX also seems faster that my old SAIX. Is this possible? Maybe I'm just imagining it...

Hey PokerKing

Yes it is. If you are still having a problem please PM me.

Where does MTN-B fit in the backbone ?, BFarm was complaining about peering or something this week as well.

Problem was resolved for an hour, then back to unstable speed again last night till now.
