* The package may be purchased any day of the month, but will only work from the 15th of that month. The username and password for the package will only be sent on the 15th.

* Weekday speeds will only be 128kbps local and international, however, Monday to Friday from 19:30pm until 07:30am, and ALL WEEKEND Long (Friday from 19:30pm until Monday 07:30am) the account will run at 1024kbps, if your ADSL line supports it.

* This is a beta product.

* P2P and torrent downloads will be allowed.

The package requires the following:

This is going to help my distro downloads big time! *wink*

So if I understand this correctly, it is uncapped but only for half a month?

They just trying to see if they give users such a limited amount of time will they still pull exorbetant amounts of data.

Also R680 + R680 = R1360 still not bad for a full month, I am aware the package only works from the 15th

The Axxess uncapped offers better value if you ask me. For basically an additional R319, you get 4Mbps for the full month.

Am i missing something here?

Don't axxess have crappy thresholds?

This seems to be 15 days of true uncapped goodness, after the alloted times ofcourse.

I tend to shy away from anything that demands a mandatory debit order.

the thresholds are only applied during work hours;
so in essence you have 4meg uncapped for R899 or R999 (depending on whether you take satelite or fiber) after hours and weekend, but during work hours its going to be 128K (if you surpassed your threshold, during work and after hours which i'm sure most people do) .

A 10 day rolling threshold applies to this account - This means when you use more than the threshold amount during a 10 day period, your line speed will be lowered but not disconnected.

This restriction only applies on weekdays from 8am to 8pm.

You will still have the FULL line speed after 8pm on weekdays and the weekend. This means that if you have a 4Mb/s line, you will get 4Mb/s speed, even if you only have a 384Kbps account!

After hour usage still counts to your daytime 10 Day Rolling Threshold. So if you used more than your 10 Day Rolling Threshold then your speed will be throttled during the day time until your usage falls within the 10 Day Rolling Threshold. Refer to the table below for threshold and speed limits. This treshold will not reset on the 1st of the month.

which makes it R219 more for satelite, and R319 for fiber which is also unshaped after work hours...

agreed.

Hey friends

I have decided to eliminate the mandatory debit order option, as not many folks actually like signing these.

Thus, you may purchase it without this option.

Thank you for your feedback!

What about an uncapped after hours service like i recommended a while ago, quite a few people were keen for that. I think people will go for this service with slower speeds like 512,384 for a lower price... heck il even get 128k speeds if it's between R400 to R500pm

well there is the RUNC-128k for R599 with R929 setup fee. ;)

pricey indeed. Im talking about an acc that like above runs from the 15th as i have my 3gig saix still for surfing or an uncapped acc that works only after hours.

Call me crazy but I am still skeptical about paying R680 for an uncapped account that only works for half a month AND has time restrictions. Dunno, thats just my 2 cents worth, I dont find it useful. Now if they offered a "TRUE" uncapped option with no thresholds or time restrictions for R680, then thats a different story :P but then again, this is South Africa and Zuma will be the next president, so wishful thinking aside :)

agreed.

So as soon as you are dropped to 128K you are stuck there for the rest of the month from 8-8? Or does rolling mean that it gets reset every ten days? Even so, 128K is all kinds of slow. :(

I'd pay R680 for this package if was for the whole month. This way it works out to R1400 for a month, that's no different to what the others are offering.

Is it really that difficult to offer an affordable uncapped local account?

Wonder what's the motivation behind this product?

Does Openweb get a poll of bandwidth in the beginning of the month from IS for a fix price and they need to try and sell them all towards the end of month to recover? Remember of something similar to this towards the month end for quite a few month via email.

by 1024kbps, does that mean that if my adsl is 4mbs, i'll be able to download at 4mbs? or do they limit me to a 1mb connection even if my line is 4mb
