Uncapped ADSL for R680

Im in frikken desperation here. I'm using my fathers business ADSL account which is 3gb, and I cant do ****. Thats why I'm desperately waiting for a good, affordable uncapped option with no restrictions :)
 
If Mr Beep can figure out a way to split a R999 axxess uncapped 4Mbit account with 4 people at 1Mbit each for around R300 a month, then I'd buy it. I never use the internet before 6pm weekdays anyway and can always use a prepaid account for the odd occasion, but I don't want to spend R1k a month for an uncapped account that I could easily share with 3 other people.
 
**** afterhours! it should be R500 for a TRUE 4mbit uncapped solution with no restrictions WHATSOEVER! :P

like that is rocket science. one node connect which is shared to 4 people each throttled at 1024k from 8pm to 8am:rolleyes::p

but someone still have to pay the overheads, the traffic from and to the node. so if you download via that setup 100gig you will have to add ontop of the R300 100G's of local only traffic costs...

yeah but if u only want to download from 8am to 8pm then an afterhours only solution would be awesome. Most people only get home at like 6pm anyways so why pay for something that u dont use during the day
 
Well think about it this way, a TRUELY uncapped 4mbit ADSL for R500p/m with no restrictions, thats a pretty darn good price right? well imagine how much more downloads u could do with that. U could leave the downloads day and night. I find that more useful then a afterhours uncapped option. I like downloading during the day. I like downloading during the night. I like downloading anytime I wish. :)
 
How much would something like this theoratically cost then?

Ok you get 15Gig for the month
But you only get 500Meg of that 15Gig per day.

So the longer you wait the bigger stuff you can download. Plus you have the piece of mind that you gonna have some cap for tomoz.
 
screw that. Im on 4mbit and from 6pm to 6am i grab well over 7gigs easily over the newsservers. Uncapped after hours for the win guys cmon cmon:)
It would be cheap and used purely for downloading/streaming/torrents etc
 
Lets look at this offer from another perspective.

* Weekday speeds will only be 128kbps local and international, however, Monday to Friday from 19:30pm until 07:30am, and ALL WEEKEND Long (Friday from 19:30pm until Monday 07:30am) the account will run at 1024kbps, if your ADSL line supports it.

Lets take next month for example. You'll basically get two weekends uncapped at 1Mbps. (That's 55 hours and 30 mins) times two.
So you'll have 111 hours of uncapped 1Mbps

That is 125kb/s download speed for 111hours.
7.5 Meg per minute
450 Meg pers hour
10.8Gig per day

24.750 Gig is the maximum you can theoratically download in that 15 days over the weekends.

Now that leaves about 10 days where your gonna be stuck at 128 speed
That's 16kb/s
960kb per minute
57.6 Meg per hour
1.382 gig per day

That over 10 days gives you
13.820 Gig

So in theory it would then be possible to download (24.750 + 13.820)
38.57Gig with this package.
 
Actually, I think u might be wrong, If u have a 4mbs line then u'll download at 4mbs, so in theory, u'll download more then wat u have stated :P
 
I wish they stop with10 day treshold, slower during the day, only 15 days a month axcess bullsh@t and offer us a plain, affordable simple uncap axcess
 
ADSL with thresholds and time restrictions is still way cheaper and faster than HSDPA,and don't even get me started on the latency.

Non-stop downloads
Non-stop internet
No cap
Why not mention the 10 day rolling threshold while at it.These people make me sick.

Just for clarity...the R999 account from axxess does not include the telkom line rental...right?
And despite the fact that the line may "run" at 4mb after hours if you currently have a 384 line then you are charged line rental for a 384 line and not a 4mb line?
 
The axxess 384kbs express+ is still the best offering out there at the moment in South Africa. You can pull close to 1TB of data every month.

It really amazes me how complicated our internet is though. Rolling thresholds, peak and off-peak, bandwidth restrictions for peak and off-peak, shaping, its RIDICULOUS.

I know the ISPs are offering these complicated packages to try give the consumer something decent while keeping the price somewhat affordable, while you know who bleeds them dry.

But mention half these internet limitation terms which are commonplace in SA to someone in the US and its like your speaking a foreign language. I can't believe we are still so far from 100% true uncapped, unshaped 24/7 10mbs internet for R250p/m.

R359 line rental +
R999 account

R1358p/m

Its steep, too steep for the average guy, but still the best bang for you buck at the moment.
