Did you receive your contract carry-over this month?

After recovering from my data bundle going crazy last month, I started June with a 2GB contract bundle, 204.8MB free and 166.24MB carried over from May.

I have used (according to my records) just shy of 2.2GB. Before connecting yesterday evening, *111# reported I had just over 7MB remaining and I used slightly more than that before disconnecting.
At about 3am this morning I received the SMS notifying me that my bundle had been depleted.

At a more sensible hour this morning, I checked *111#, expecting to see 166.24MB remaining, but got 0KB remaining instead. I called 155 and the agent agreed that things did not add up and escalated my query. He advised me not to buy an ad-hoc bundle and not to use the internet until the query was resolved.

What are your experiences with contract data bundle carry-over?

Hi Ginggs

Pm me your details so i too can check on my side.

VodacomData

I've just received a call from someone looking into my query, apparently the 166.24MB that vodacom4me shows as remaining in May, is actually the left over from the carry over from April, that's why it didn't carry over to June.

Vodacom, your rules are too complicated, they are confusing us and you!

@vcd, I strongly suggest that a project be scheduled to properly implement Data Bundle Rollover - I agree with ginggs that the current system [not just for CDBs, but for PPDBs as well] is over-complicated from a customer's POV and comes across as Vodacom ripping off customers.

IMO 2 changes are required:
  1. "up to 60 days" must be changed to "60 days exactly"; and
  2. Pre-existing data must be depleted prior to data being depleted from a more recently added data bundle. What this means is that the data carried over from a previous month, must be depleted prior to data being depleted from a data bundle added in the current billing period, and only when the carried over data is depleted [or the 60 days has past], should data be depleted from the newly added data bundle. Simply put, old data bundles must be depleted prior to new data bundles [where old & new are according to an 'added to account timestamp' associated with each data bundle].

I fully CONCURE with IC and hasten to add that Vodacom could have less customer problems if they adopted the KISS principal = Keep It Straight & Simple and not push so much corparate "Smoke and Mirrors" = Be TRUTHFULL AT ALL TIMES, by not sending PM's to IC & Ginggs as this is now in the open and transparent part of this forum topic.

I mentioned the issue which comes up here a couple of months ago but no one paid much attention. See the below post. You can only carry over data every second month with the current system.

Hold on a minute. So it's actually only a carryover every 2nd month. Say I have a 1GB contract.

Usage will be as follows for example:
May 09 - 700MB
June 09 - 1300MB (I have to use everything up here because the 300MB from May only gets used up after using Junes data)
July 09 - 800MB (Used 800MB here. No carryover from June because I had to use Junes data up before using Mays)
August 09 - 1200MB (Have to use up 1GB before touching July's carryover of 200MB
September 09 - No carryover.....repeat process indefinitely

So carryover will only "benefit" us every 2nd month and in that month you'd be forced to use up all the data because nothing will be carried over!

Looks kind of silly to me. The carried over data should be used 1st or Vodacom must say carryover only every 2nd month for contract customers.

Data bundles should be handled exactly the same way as debt, which it is in reality. I buy a PPDB, and Vodacom "owes" me that amount of data transfer. When you have various debts with a company payments (data usage) are first credited against the oldest debt (PPDB). If the debts are exactly the same age (2 PPDBs bought the same day) payments (usage) are credited against the largest debt (PPDB), and if they are the same size, usage is credited equally. Why Vodacom insists on making something so simple complicated is beyond me!

And while they are at it fixing stuff don`t forget
it`s high time we see the following:

*111#
1. Balance Enquiry
4. Data Bundle Balance

You have available:
Intl. Data 1G
Local Data 10GB

If telkom Going Nowhere Slowly can do it:p Come on vodacom:confused:

Month Threshold Used Bundle Remaining Bundle Expiry Date
July 550.00 MB 0.00 MB 550.00 MB 2009-Jul-31
June 1.02GB 833.08 MB 210.07 MB 2009-Jun-30
May 500.00 MB 6.85 MB 493.15 MB 2009-May-31

So my 493.15MB was carried over from May to June but the 210.07MB was not?

Instead they give me 50MB extra this month? Am I supposed to be happy now? Wheres the rest? Or has the rest of my 210.07MB been dished out to others?

Can anyone explain this to me slowly. Or should we just be thankfull for the little extra we're getting?:D

Your 210.07MB was left over from the carry over of 493.15MB from the previous month, so it expired. Same thing happened to me a couple of posts back.

What is misleading is that vodacom4me shows the 210.07MB as 'remaining'.

Numberjuggling. I feel like I was swindled by one of those guys that shuffle the three cards around and you have to guess where the ace is.

What's the logic in doing it this way?:D

Well, I can't tell if I received my carry-over this month, neither vodacom4me or *111# are working right now.

Finally got in.

*111# shows I have 2.20GB available.

I purchased a 5MB ad-hoc bundle (and got 25MB free) after receiving the call on 2009/06/26. I expected *111# to now show 2.23GB available, which would include the 30MB carried over from June. I only used about 0.15MB of the 30MB as it never appeared on *111#.

Not quite related, but exactly how accurate is the usage display is Vodafone Mobile Connect app? It showed I only used up 889 MB this month, but I recieved two SMS from Vodacom saying

"I only have 4000 KB left before costs will be deducted from my call account."

And vodacom4me doesn't show any carryover for this month either.

I'm trying to understand what I see in my account:

Month Threshold Used Bundle Remaining Bundle Expiry Date
July 2.49GB 40.21 MB 2.45GB 2009-Jul-31
June 2.20GB 1.91GB 296.43 MB 2009-Jun-30

At what point do our counters reset? At midnight of the last day of the month? (eg 23:59:59 on the 30th) or some random time during the day?

I just plugged my modem in for the first time today - used 4MB when I disconnected - yet somehow I've used 40MB of my databundle since the beginning of this month? And this can't be run-over from last night either ... since it clearly shows I had 290MB of data left - and I disconnected at 22:30 last night.

Some clarification please?
