MTN gives reasons for billing problems

At last MTN admits its billing problems. I am not sure the problem is solved and that the system is stable. My bundle information has not been updated in over a week, and billing entries are not updated i.e my unbilled balance does not reflect. I remain skeptical, but I guess its a start when you admit the problem exists.

My payment will be delayed due to a system update on my side too..

Not acceptable. They have been stuffing up the bill and treating the customers like idiots when they complained. This problem has been with us for a couple of months. And it certainly isn't only a statement "test" run - I suspect they are now outright lying. They have been disconnecting customers. I certainly didn't receive an SMS and my statement is obviously wrong. My colleague whose data bundle wasn't depleted but was billed out-of-bundle didn't receive and SMS as of Friday.

Heads should roll.

They round the amount up? I thought that was illegal...

PnP etc round it down:erm:

It's always been the retailer's choice - not illegal. It just hilights that they are scrooges... something we already know.

MyBroadband recently reported that numerous MTN subscribers have been experiencing billing problems over the last few weeks.

More like last few MONTHS. The problem is, MTN has been having "technical difficulties" for quite some time, it's illustrated by the banner they had on their MTNSP website since probably last year! It's obvious MTN is confusing their most -recent- muckup [i did actually receive an SMS stating my initial June statement is incorrect and they'll send a new one] with the ongoing problems surrounding their entire "service", billing just being the part where people get agitated the quickest. Their overall service as far as i'm concerned has deteriorated compared to Vodacom, i don't really see things "looking up" either......

I'm actually more concerned that they won't audit everyone's billing for the last 4 months and correct it appropriately . I've complained numerous times where they investigated, gave me some non-sensical answer, closed the call and moved on "because this is what the system shows, so tough luck for you" .

I've had a problem literally every single month since I took out my contract and I haven't received an SMS!

i think this is corporate SA's answer to cash flow problems. everyone else goes to get an overdraft, a loan, but corporate sa has "billing problems".

isnt it funny how these "billing problems" never under-bill?

Yeh right - same old bull**** story from MTN. How about giving the real reason of them being incompetent. I have had billing issues for TWO YEARS. I think I have probably had about 3-5 correct bills since starting with MTN.

Fortunately MTN is not my network, otherwise I would let them have it..... But it just seems to me to be very poor PR. I wonder who approved their communication strategy on this. Bad.....

Letting them have it doesn't help - they don't give two hoots, after all, they already have our money, why should giving it back be a priority.

I can just imagine all the interest they're earning on our money.

Yep, 26202 tells me I have 700mb remaining when I know I've used 1gig out of the 1.2 (I hope.) that I started this billing cycle with. It makes no sense.

Also my statement seems to have random numbers in the "Statement opening balance" column.

Not incompetence?

The reason MTN didn't answer the phones or give meaningful feedback or straight out lied was because the system told them not to. And no one questions the system.

I am not sure about the legal system in South Africa regards to group/class-action suits. I don't think it is practical in SA. But boy, if it were...

This problem has been going on for over a year! And it has nothing to do with cents either, they over charge people in the hundreds of rand, and in some cases thousands!

Excuse my language, but cents my @ss!!!
