Shaun,

What kind of shaping do you guys do, and do you stop shaping at a certain time of the night? I find that my latency to online games (playing Aion EU) tends to be really bad during the day, but at night it's brilliant.

If it was my setup, location, etc. I would expect it to be so all the time?

The shaping that is done is on P2P only. We restrict nothing else.

Gaming is unrestricted as in the case of HTTP etc.

If the gaming is great in the evenings and lousy during the day the it is international load that is causing it. I constantly keep an eye on our peering stats to ensure that we do not run out of capacity. At this stage there is enough.
 
Shaun, why cant i visit this website: thewingster.com i can access it using vodacom 3g or telkom but not Iburst.? Its a very popular site for those with certain HTC phones...

There is a great demand for good pings on MMORPG games. Specially since people are paying to play the Game online on a monthly Basis. (Pay to Play)

So these users want to enjoy the experience rather than having sluggish responses

Games like AION / GuildWars & WoW.....

Aren't you supposed to allow unshapped connections for the higher packages? Or now you do shaping on all packages?
 
and whats wrong with facebook? page loads ok but when I try to do something (comment, click an image / got to another profile / anything) then it just freezes up ?
 
Hey Shaun :)

Can you also please look at the website www.roosterteeth.com , I used to be able to load it a few years back but then it stopped loading, I can only get half a banner on any pc or browser I use that's connected to my Iburst here at home whether I'm capped or not.

But what about people using p2p gaming services, for example Xbox Live or even Modern Warfare 2 on PC?
 
As for Call of Duty, Modern Warefare 2 this protocol is not seen as P2P either.

No shaping here either.
