Neotel bandwidth usage monitor here in 2010

Quick, how many Neotel developers does it take to write a usage monitor

Is it just me or is it as simple as just an sql statement on the RADIUS database and a frontend to display the results?

Should've been done long time ago...

It might come out, but I'm betting top dollar it won't work properly, not at first!

I vote I 'beta' test it... I'm "beta" testing the prime unlimited anyways... just paying a monthly subscription.

Of course you actually have to be connected and do data transfer for this to be useful, so I'm sure most Neotel customers will find no use for it.

Usage Monitor

*puts on pointy white hat*
*takes a seat on the rocking chair on porch*
*poors three fingers of moonshine*
*screams at the top of his voice*

ETHEL WE GOT US A LYNCHIN DARLIN!

*watches as the mob hurtles past*

A bandwidth monitoring tool will allow Neotel customers to be notified when their bandwidth usage is nearing their package cap, giving them the option to reduce data use or go out-of-bundle.

IMO that is just one part of bandwidth monitoring. I am not a Neotel customer but I have seen enough people moaning on these forums to know that they don't just want some sort of email notification system, they want a monitor that they can look at when they login to their accounts on the website as well. Maybe Neotel should ask Axxess to help them implement a bandwidth monitor that works, they seem to be able to do it pretty effectively.

I see no discussion on that sort of functionality. Does Neotel currently provide that sort of thing? If not then I'm afraid this is not a proper solution just a half-a***d attempt to quell angry customers.

Wazted

@ ToxicWazte

OI! while most of us like to flame @ neotel this is just in bad taste.

If you've been through the frustration some of us have been through, you would +1

Fire all the SA employees and ship some Tata exec's in to show us some real progress...

Neotel doesn't even give you an account page to log into to view your bill/invoices, nevermind your current usage/available data.

Even Telkom has this. In fact Telkom's meter is in real time, showing the IPs of the PCs that last connected/currently connecting and you can drill down nicely to see daily/weekly/monthly breakdowns etc etc.

That is above the part about setting up a scheduled report being emailed to you weekly/monthly/daily about your usage [you can define all this yourself].

OK now THAT is pathetic. I had no idea it was that bad. Come on Neotel! Ask this forum for help there are plenty of people on here that could help.

Actually I am in the same boat. I get speeds of 100K if i'm lucky at some times early in the morning. With that said, You dont see users like Gdiza and Gary, catruter and a string of others hurling personal insults at employees of Neotel.
Bad taste is bad taste, and can't be exscused it smacks of well :p toxic wazte.

Don't get me wrong I dont condone the tardiness of Neotel at all. It's just not on that it has taken so long. +1 for getting it sorted FAIL at being insulting & way out of line

You gotta love the way that Neotel is marketing their bandwidth usage meter as if it's some revolutionary feature that is going to change the way that people use their product. What an epic fail.

Lol, agreed... Epic Fail

Angus Hey: "So, do we have real internet?"
Employee: "No, we haven't invented it yet"

Could it really be THAT difficult to develop something like that?? How long has it been now? How many moans & complaints?

I have had the prime 5G for 3 months now. At first I was annoyed that I couldn't monitor my usage By now I see it is completely unnecessary since there is no way that I could use up my cap given the speed of there data transfer rates even with a teenager Facebook/Deviant art junkie in my family. In fact I owe Neotel a debt of gratitude as I can now safely downgrade my package to 3G or less and save a few bucks

Surely it is simply a case of packing you bags and going to another service provider? Or am I missing something here?

Im usually one of the first to throw down against Neotel and have had my fair share of issues....

what I cant understand is why hasnt some private skilled individual CREATED a bandwidth monitor and offered it to them for a decent price. Just seems like if someone had the skill and a bit of time and it wasnt that difficult then why hasnt someone stepped forward and done something about it.

Just my two cents. If I was a talented coder and had some free time ( and wasnt on the uncapped package lol) then I would have attempted something.

If there are any good coders out there would you even consider making an app like that for Neotel to benefit everyone??
