Hi

Ok first off, this is not local based so it wont work for capped adsl users. The main bonus is of course the cost per gig for unshaped bandwidth to download for instance, will be alot lower via this method.

Ill be getting our box up in the coming weeks, if all go well, as previously mentioned in another thread that ive been arranging over the last month. The box will include 2000GIG a month transfer over 1gigabit connection. Ill be running it for free as long as I possibly can(As long as usage stay within 2000GIG a month, it will be free). Yep its on our international host in the US and also have a peer in Sweden.

Obviously no gaurantees on being a long term solution, but hey we can all wish someone doesnt spoil our fun. To make sure as many people as possible benefit from this, all accounts will have 3gig assigned to it(maybe more depending on user account from the start), Ill be working out costs if someone require more bandwidth otherwise you will have to wait for the next month. This is the only way I can get as many users as possible to benefit from this.

Yes you will be able to that and more, if the performance will be good enough for you, then by all means you can do that.
 
Up and in testing. My provider is extremely fusy about torrents for some reason though (their abuse dept contacted me 2 days after d/ling my first one already).... -shrugs-, will have to see.
 
well, if this means we can play guild wars and other stuff, and even more importantly, be ABLE TO FTP overseas, then i will be happy
 
A quick question,

It has already been stated in another post that Telkom can't do much about these servers. It is unlikely that Telkom will shape the ports used to connect to the servers and one could always change the ports if they actually did shape them.

My question is, once Telkom finds out about these servers, can they not simply deny access to the server ip's? Something like disallowing their entire ADSL user base from connecting to "blacklisted" proxies?
 
Nice going Clipse, can't wait to try it out. If the service is good enough I wouldn't have any problem paying for it but having it free is just awesome!

I have a good unlisted proven/tested portlist that will keep Telkom rather busy soon :_)

Since Im such a ****, im going to pay the R1750 a month to cover the server proposed.

In all seriousness, Im covering that and have been working on this idea for ages, my bad that MrBeep just popped up before I was ready to.
 
Ok guys before this gets nasty.

I am currently using both MrBeeps servers and clipse nukecap and both are a great way to beat Telkom at its shaping. I know that MrBeep has put a lot of time and effort and some of his own money into getting a free server up and running. I would hope that Clipse and MrBeep can get together and formulate some ideas going forwards whereby these servers are not seen as competing but rather complimenting each other as well as finding ways to make them self supporting.
 
I also make use of one of MRBEEP's donation proxy servers.
Using the proxy really makes a difference for me when downloading torrents.

I say the more people that comes to the party yhe better so thanks for setting this up Clipse.
 
I've also just signed up for one of MrBleeps's donation servers. Will let you know how it goes.

This is the best news ever, eventually everyone will be using a service like this and telkom will see the sheer stupidity of the situation, and drop their port/packet shaping making these workarounds unnecessary. Until then however thanks a whole fcuken lot, you have rescued the internet from their evil clutches

Thanks, I appreciate all the good words just need to hold on tight while working on getting the server up. I will let everyone know once this ready, in next 2-3weeks for accurate timing. Till then, its just bit of waiting from your side :D
 
Very good news Clipse :)

It's nice to see free solutions to shaping cropping up, and many thanks for helping with that ;) .
 
imho that wont be possible ie. pptp connection consist of pptp/1723 and protocol 47/gre. 1373 is the server->client connection and thats all you "may" be able to get socksified which i highly doubt, the main issue comes in with the gre data packets inside the server->client connection that wont be socksified.

All and all, I would say no, have not tried it but heck if its possible, someone will know otherwise Ill try and find a way(again, if its possible)
 
and just to get even more interesting ... clipse's WoW supplier in the states is also in competition with him http://woworder.webhop.net/

So as long as there are more options and the suppliers have to fight to get our business then it's ALLL good ....

Now if someone would do that to telkom.
