Original Post:
Virgin's GPRS seems to be offline....it connects(on PC) but no data comes through at all!! I tried reconnecting a few times, i even tried roaming on the VC network,no luck.
Anyone also experiencing this? This started @ about 12:19 today....
Firefox can't find the server at http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/

GPRS still 'offline' @ 13:00.

Seems a bit useless to me that the whole Virgin GPRS network goes down. Happened to me for quite a few hours the other day as well. Used to get irritated if Vodacom was down in a localised area for 5 mins, guess I shouldn't have complained!

Your 4:45 update
Dead as a dodo, have to use Vodacom. Wake me up when it comes back online.

Hmm... at least I'm not alone

Also using Vodacom at the moment (Aaaaarggghhh!!)

My new plan is to port my cell number to MTN when portability comes in - that way I'll always have a backup simcard with a few bucks on it (I hardly ever make phone calls).

In this way I'll continue to use VM mainly - as the main thing I do with airtime is surf ;) ,
but have a reliable backup in case VM fails... Vodacom is not a reliable backup

Just called VM. They say "It is an unplanned network outage so I cannot give you a time that it will be working as the technicians are currently working on the problem."

.....its half past bloody nine and its still down... arrrhhh!!!

I've been forced to use my R2.00 a meg service provider which is somewhat expensive.

Still out :(
Strangely Vodacom has only billed me about R2.50 for the previous 2MB session on vlive.

Please can someone explain how the whole gprs section of the network can go down for almost 12 hrs now? What does the word R-E-D-U-N-D-A-N-C-Y mean?

So we can athenticate but internet is missing from this picture?

Terrorist attack?
Coup?
Someone stole the virgin server?
they didnt pay their data bill?

*shakes head*

Yep still down it seems. Just when i thought i'll be using the R200 i loaded on my Virgin Sim this month for primary data. Luckily it doesn't expire.

I loaded a new 350MB bundle on my MTN sim instead, so now my Virgin Sim will be gathering dust until i use that up.

Simply unacceptable . I might have alot of gripes with Vodacom, but at least if their 3G goes down , 99% of time can revert back to Vodacom GPRS as backup. With Virgin/Cell C there is just ..well GPRS it seems..if that goes down it really goes DOWN .

mmm....seems like allot of us were forced to use our R2/MB backup... :(
This realy makes me appreciate VM. R2 vs 50c, it makes a HUGE difference.

Now that would be hilarious!
