For the past 5 days I've been having trouble surfing internationally. I doubt it's related to "end of month abuse" because isn't it a bit early? I would understand if it started today...but 5 days ago? Most people can cap their monthly accounts in a day, I'm sure :/
I'm using webafrica prepaid. Anybody else having problems? I just press the refresh button until the page pops up.

I'm having the same problem... also with WebAfrica.

International seems very slow.

my speeds are fine, just the websites have trouble loading. i get around 300 to 310 kilobits/s internationally and locally on my 384K pico-narrowband line.

Here the same problem with Webafrica: since about 5 days web sites either come in only partly or with a lot of hickups and delays.

Yes, we are having the same problem here. A website loads and then it doesn't. Frustrating.

Anyone know why?

Using Mweb ADSL

yes, that seems to be the case.... downloading files does not seem to be too affected.

I am using OpenDNS... so I doubt it has to do with the Telkom DNS settings... probably more likely the shaping proxies... get rid of them already Telkom!!!

well it works slightly better with a diff dns server...probably placebo :/

"get rid of them already Telkom"
several errors in that part. it's supposed to be "get rid of telkom already" :P

a list of saix dns servers are on http:/www.saix.net/ choose one in ur area maybe? I noticed that on saix but figured it was my dns or routing(which goes wonky sometimes) and fiddled with it a few times.

lol... touche' !!!:D

shouldn't the ISPs adjust their DNS servers to ones that are fully working and not causing crappy service?

I got hold of 0800 375 375.

Telkom admitted to a fault.

Will be repaired in Telkom time.

An hour after reporting, a lady from Telkom actually called - make sure you are seated very well - to apologise for the ADSL service being bad. She said they are working on it, and requested I reboot my modem every 30 minutes.

Yes, its not a DNS problem.
Sites don't load and then you hit refresh and they do, but then then the next page on the same site has the same problem again

I suspect is a problem with Telkoms cache servers. One or more of them in the Cape Town cluster (are you all in CT southern suburbs?) is probably faulty.

I do wish Telkom would implement proper monitoring of their DNS and cache servers.

I don't swear, but @%@!#%@# !

I am so glad I didn't phone yet, thank you kaspaas ;) :D

Thank god for these posts! I'm also having these problems. Pages don't load first time, but after a refresh, they are ok. Torrents going at normal speed.

Cheers, Nick

Changed over to my CAPPED IS account, that seems to be faster :P
