Telkom’s combined-price ADSL offerings bring lower prices

Interesting, is this the only price you pay, excluding your normal (+-R100) Telkom line rental?

Will Check it out

I will check this one out with Telkom. If it is true, (not meaning the article is in-accurate, but just find out for my self) I will save on my current 384 setup Telkom and usage from Web Africa  Buy a bundle from Telkom and if needed use the rest that was prepaid with Web Africa ;) My problem is I am choping and changing often chasing price, and price seem to be decreasing

still the 4mb line with the 3gb cap is stupid!!! it needs to be made bigger...they really need to sort that option out..

Telkom do broadband: http://www.do.co.za/

Looks like they copied Apple's site but that's no suprise.

Why do they list do-Wimax if they aren't even offering it yet?

Do this and do that.
Can I be the first to say: Telkom can go do themselves! :)

The 'do' site looks great. Nothin I'm used to seeing from Telkom..

EDIT. So it is R275.00 + 100.00 line rental only? If it is, then I'm in.

Please clarify: Is it 1 price?

Thanks

If you're referring to do internet (Telkom's effort) then they make it pretty clear on their product page that apart from the line rental and call charges it is all inclusive. They also offer the closer options.

Is this offer only available to customers willing to sign a 2-year contract with them?
I dont think so. They use the same standard terms and conditions that TelkomInterent uses. Unless you want the bundle with the included modem - then that might be subject to the contract. Modems are cheap anyway.

The Bundled offering is subject to a 24 month agreement whereby you will be penalised should you terminate your
subscription before the period of 24 months has lapsed as per the terms and conditions available on this website, www.telkom.co.za/adsl/terms1.jsp

How much and what do you suggest? I've been stuck with dialup for so long I'm not in the loop when it comes to broadband hardware like modems and things.

I see the cheapest on Incredible corruption's site is under r400 so you could probably find a similar one for less if you shop around. A lot depends on if you need wireless and if you need/want a router or USB. Until recently telkom was still giving away a free modem without a contract on self-installs - perhaps they still are.

Na.. I have two of them they work well...

Anyhow i would like to understand what is happening with the closer plans?

I currently have plan 5 with a 3gig telkominternet account.. Will i get a price change?

Well here's the thing.. Cybersmart #3GB package R125. And if you already like us, use Closer 3 then move to Closer4 for DSL rental for 384k is effectively R200. So total is: R325 for 3GB hard capped SAIX. incl a R25 and you get to roll over unused. So essentially its not cheaper in anyway.

Now the question is Closer is what makes these packages not as cheap so.. Will telkom kill their own closer package? Or will ISP's try and restructure the all incl packages such that it really works out cheaper? I think not(for ISP's) as it kinda brings them nothing more but a added isp support cost but who know's

Currently Closer4 is still listed as R499 on Telkom Website.
