Shock over SABC millions for UK soccer rights

It constantly amazes me when I read of:

While SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago pleaded ignorance and said he was not aware of such a deal, English Premier League chairman Sir David Richards said from England that the public broadcaster had concluded the agreement earlier this year.

Its like when you see your kid eat the cookie, or break the vase, and he says "it was not me!".
 
can i suggest the SABC try some of my new Kelloggs Moral Fibre as a standard breakfast for all personnel (now available in new delicious irony flavour)
 
Maybe if someone mentioned to Kaizer Kganyago that it was the deal where he got the Mercedes, he will remember.
 
Oh this is rich. The PSL is looking more and more justified in taking the rights away from the SABC.

He might remember and then start to deny that he even work at the SABC.

mmm, I guess SABC execs would rather watch second rate English teams rather than our own.

Monochoise got the nod from the PSL because they are tired of the SABC's attitude

Just as I get up from rolling on the floor laughing @ these SABC @rseholes, they floor me again. Oh, you guys....you crack me up. ;)
 
PSL has gone out and offered rights to the footy.
SuperSport came up with a number that they feel is what the rights are worth.
This number just happens to be vastly different from what the SABC would even consider, looking at their past payments.
R67m/p.a for all games previously by the SABC propaganda channel which is R335m over 5 years as apposed to R1.6bn by SuperSport for the same period :eek:
Why not pay big commission for it? Seems more than appropriate, no?

I think soccer fans will find that SuperSport will do justice to the local game, more so than the SABC ever has done.
Watch a rugby build up and game on SABC and compare that to SuperSport. SABC is light years behind.

The problem is all the people [the majority in fact] who can not afford a DSTV dish on their shack....

Who eventually foots the bill for the R160-million in commission? DSTV viewers in general no doubt. R1.6-billion minus the R160-million commission, would have easily secured the broadcasting rights. Exactly what have the five done to justify so much? They have made a no-brainer decision to go for the highest bid and then take a 10% commission for making the same decision they should have made as a matter of duty. If SuperSport was happy to pay R1.6-billion for the rights, then all of that money should have gone to the PSL for the development of the soccer.
