That 8800GTX would be severly bottlenecked by that CPU

This works out at just under R15k

I'm not being a smartarse but why the Q6600? I've read very good reviews of the E6850 especially if it's been overclocked.

It's a R40 difference between the 2 cpu's so it's still under R15k :)

The following formula will explain it for you:
Q = quad core = future proof = good

More and more games and applications are becoming multi-threaded so soon it'll be a case of 9.6GHz (Q6600) vs 6GHz (E6850).

Won't really be like that, but multiple cores will be very advantageous :)

I think carderne explained it better than I did, though :p

k but right now progs are better adapted to running with very fast single/dual cores no?

When they fully catch up with the quad tech in a year or two the quad you purchased now will be obsolete will it not? So is it not better to buy a fast dualcore and fully utilize it right now?

Or, if you are running the Q6600 at 3GHz like me, you can have the best of both worlds ;) The Q6600 easily overclocks to 3GHz on stock cooling and stock voltage.

beanie you cannot add the total of each core man

each core can only run at 2.66ghz stock u cannot run the cpu at 9ghz

oms that would be awesome though

naaa toko, these quadcores are not far off the e6850

I know, that's why I said "Won't really be like that, but multiple cores will be very advantageous" ;)

I was just using it to illustrate a point...

hmmm I'd have to do some research but I think you have me sold on the quad :)

ATI® Radeon HD3870, 512MB 256Bit GDDR4, Dual DVI & TV-Out, DirectX 10.1, OpenGL 2.0, Shader Model 4, Gigabyte Design

What do you think of this card vs the nvidia ones tho?

Hi guys! Thanks for the huge response!

Ok in stead of arguing specs, what do you guys recommend for me to be able to do the following:

At least PLAY Crysis
Get more than 4fps on Flight Simulator X
and Play the new improved Eve online?

toko i used to think the same way till my buddie pointed out a few games coming up using all four cores

i would rather have a game using 4 cores at 2.66ghz than a games using 2 cores at 3.5ghz

4 cores can be oc'ed as well :)

yea i know my quaddie is on 3.4ghz

i was just making a point that even 4 cores clocked alot slower would be better than 2 clocked alot higher in future games
