I disagree, I think even without spectacularly bright highlights the HDR rendition will look better than SDR, especially since it has Dolby Vision. Yes, it might not be ideal to view HDR content on a TV with mediocre brightness levels, but remember that nit numbers do not scale linearly. Out of...

I think flashing M0518 might have solved this issue for me. I will continue to test for a few days and let you know if it is indeed fixed. As a side note, motion handling is a lot better on M0518 compared to the ancient K1112 firmware my TV was stuck on previously.

They make decent TVs but the ones that are available at the moment are meh IMO, no local dimming on any of the models currently available and brightness is comparable to entry-level Hisense 4k TVs. If they launch the newer models with Mini-LED tech it will be a different story though.

I have the same issue on my 55" U7QF. Very annoying. Side note: Do you mind sharing a link to the newer firmware? I am still stuck on K1112, which is from is from 2020...

Same here, had issues registering my first unit. Although on my second TV it worked the first time, just left it alone after clicking the button and it went through after what felt like a minute.

For those looking at Android TV devices, I would recommend the Chromecast with Google TV or perhaps the new Xiaomi Mi TV Stick 4k. They both do 4k HDR and also Dolby Vision with good performance. Just make sure that you buy the new 4k TV Stick and not the older one.

The Android models in SA are entry level 4k TVs as far as I know. The higher end ULED models all come with Vidaa in SA. So I wouldn't recommend going for the Android models unless you are already looking at the lower end 4k TVs like the A6G or older A7100F models.

Your best bet might be to try and get it exchanged then, unless someone else here has a better suggestion. Hopefully you can get one, shouldn't be an issue as long as they have stock. They use Digital Experience as a partner if I am not mistaken. My exchange/refund was also handled by them but...

Yes, I have experience with this. So I sent my previous unit (55U7WF) in for analysis to try and get a replacement. They sent it to another company called TG Vision to check the panel. These clowns sent it back saying there is no issue, while it clearly had some backlight bleed issues in the...

Got a refund on my U7WF while I still had the option as the banding was too bad for me to accept. How does the U6G compare with the U7QF in real life? I can get both at the same price, and I'm leaning towards the U7QF because of the brighter panel and 72 local dimming zones vs 32 on the U6G...

TCL TV's available in South Africa?

Do the P725 and C725 have local dimming? I can't seem to find a clear answer. And do you have an expected release date for the upgraded versions?

Samsung #GalaxyFan competition - Great prizes up for grabs!

I have been a #GalaxyFan since I switched to Samsung phones 4 years ago. The OneUI Android skin is the best I have used yet. I would very much like to win the #GalaxyS21FE to replace my ageing Samsung phone.

I saw this video of someone having banding on a new Samsung QN90A which costs 4x as much as my Hisense, so it's an issue even with expensive TVs. Uniformity will probably never be 100%.

So it seems this sort of thing is kinda normal for most LCD TVs. I sent my panel to Hisense to check, and they reported no issues. The funny thing is that since I noticed it on my TV I started to check for it on other displays as well, and I am noticing it everywhere now, it's just much easier...

    [Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Yes, I had a question about that topic on the previous page. My U7WF panel has some pretty bad horizontal banding on some scenes. I need to get it looked at by Hisense. It's quite distracting when there is lots of grey/dark-ish colors in the scene but also light sections. Even my non-techie wife...
