Being mocked for having solar.

I had a few people tell me the same. I write a lot of it down to jealousy, maybe some controlling attitude.

I like to think its the same reason i often get the "shame man, you're still single. It must be hard, how are you coping?" and/or followed by "you know were weren't meant to be alone, is there something we (the couple) can do to help?"
my brother is a bachelor , hes happy .

Last year when the first wave of stage 6 loadshedding ended in July we had solar installed. All my friends and colleagues full of hopeium mocked me and said well thats the lowest of the lowest eskom would go and that government will intervene. They all believed that loadshedding will be a thing of the past by December 2022.
I had to endure conversations of how I've just spent 200k on a system, wasted a **** ton of money and the usual mock about solar tax that will be introduced on residential homes with solar.

Most of these people drive vehicles worth in excess of over 750k but will not spend 110k or more on a backup system that ultimately reduces eksdom dependance.
They don't even flinch spending 100k extra on a more expensive vehicle that drinks fuel like my Alcoholic Step brother consumes beer.

Some of these "Mockers" even use my study as a mobile office when the power is out.

Anyone on here that had solar installed last year experience the same ?
Did you call the hurt feelings police?
Do you need a hug?

Its worse when they try to play match-maker. my word. Friends once tried to set me up with someone and they pushed and pushed and "we've got the date set you'll come over we've arranged it all" you'll be married in no time.

I had to come up with an excuse cause i didn't want to make them feel bad, and said i'm away for work. Which i wasn't going to be cause i was not travelling for work that period lol. so one plane-ticket and a hotel in Cape Town with AVIS car hire later, it was a very very expensive excuse lol

[EDIT: But worth it, i had a great time in Cape Town that was not planned lol]

Going solar did f all this weekend....

Had to pull out me genny....
Solar is great (and recommended), but you still have the issues that comes with the rest of the failing grid: food, water, etc.

No amount of solar is going to put food on your table inasmuch pump water to your house or fix the rising costs because of loadshedding. Imho lasting solution includes removal of the current political system.

Mock the ANC for being unable to run a country.
Mock ANC leadahs for Nkandla, Phala phala.
Mock specifics like Cele for Sharraaaap!! & Mbalula for unable to sort out licenses.
Clowns & circuses, mock all you want, they deserve it.

Solar? Nah bru, those are the lucky ones..

I think some people just don't need the "this is someone i own forever" kind of relationship. But still are perfectly capable of enjoying things like kids, friendships, family etc.

Many will experience a rude awakening in winter.

I'm thinking of buying my 3rd 9KG gas bottle end of this month, just so that I don't have to refill this winter.

Normally use to have 1 connected and 1 to rotate.

Suspect gas prices to go up big time....
