Razer wants to keep expanding its gaming brand in South Africa

International hardware giant Razer wants to continue expanding its brand in South Africa after seeing continued success in the local market.

The brand is looking to work with more retailers and online storefronts to increase the local availability of Razer products for South African gamers.

I really wanted to love Razer but my Razer keyboard was such a frustration with switches randomly dying that I eventually bought an el-cheapo Redragon which just works.

I have been hearing there are a lot of issues with the Razer Synapse 4 software.
I am avoiding the brand for this reason.

I have a very old razor black widow v1 keyboard that is used daily and is working 100%.
I think it's 14 years old now.

I cannot use the Synapse v4 software,
my keyboard is not supported by the software.

The last time I checked,
I think I had to go back to v2,
and the software was mostly useless.

i still own razer.co.za and will keep on doing so. they screwed me over big time +- 13 years ago. So screw them.
Good example of quality. The razer imperator packging bent the braided cord right at the point where it inserts into the mouse. This causes most of them to be DOA, or break soon after opening. Razer response : "wear & tear".
I had hundreds of people crying to me about it. Razer didn't care.
Synapse 2-4 is a virus.

My primary mouse is a Logitech G502 se, but i still have +- 15 year old Mamba which is basically rebuilt with parts from Ali-express that is still running. Just stupid that I can't import a battery for it from Ali.

I won't support Razer again. Owned a Razer Kraken X (got as a birthday gift along with a Deathadder Mouse) for <6months. The headband started showing signs of cracking right at the point where you adjust the headband size, on both sides nogal. Tried to claim replacement under warranty but they claimed that it's cosmetic damage and warranty doesn't apply to cosmetic damage. Razer Deathadder mouse buttons randomly stopped working after about 1year. Synapse software is utterly terrible to work with and bombs out half the time.

The only Razer product I own is a Deathadder. Man, I tried other mice but nothing feels as nice as the shape of the Deathadder.

Their ecosystem sucks, but the top-end products are very competitive except when it comes to the price. Razer, themselves, is not in SA? So many things here are agency run, and some have some odd rights to exclusivity, but eh.

Had some of their hardware back in the day that it had to be permanently connected to their servers for anything but the basic functionality to work. If the connection or the server went down (this was common with their servers) then you were screwed. They have gone back on this policy now, but it left a sufficiently bad taste that I have not bought any of their products since.

I wish Logitech would do the same, instead of sitting on their laurels and only brining in the bare minimum of stock here
