Hi Afrihost,

I have had random line disconnects the past 2 weeks. I have contacted support 5 times, done the usual basic "reboot everything" 5 times. Eventually, a fault was reported to Metro Fiber, but they went ahead and closed it because there was nothing wrong with the line, apparently. My line has been super solid for nearly a year. Effectively, my line works 99% of the time, but then randomly drops for 1-5min, then returns. At times, I'll experience extremely high ping (5000ms) just before it completely drops.

One of your consultants mentioned the below earlier this week:

"Okay one of my findings is that there are no Optical Signal Level (dBm), which that alone shows that the line might be down and I will have to escalate it". A fault was logged with ticket number: #1423847, which was subsequently closed by metro.

This issue is ongoing, and have reached out to support yet again today and they now have logged a new ticket:

Please could you assist in getting this issue sorted? This has been affecting my online work calls, as well as the usual online gaming experience.

Also in PTA East.... Also experiencing intermittent connection issues.....

@Afrigirl Metro came to my property today, plugged in a device and said line is fine and left. Told me my router was the problem.

Replaced router, and guess what, same issue...

Anyways, here's some PingPlotter images.

First image is from my asus ax6600 which I was told was the issue:

Second image is from my ASUS tuff ax5400. (Configured after being told "it's a router issue")Screenshot 2026-06-15 204239.png

Hey @Afrigirl ive noticed over the past few months that whenever I download something heavy like downloading a game from steam, my internet drops for a few mins then bounces back. Then after a few hours it happens again

@Jinxy Jinx When was the last drop?

We checked with MFN and no fault has been located for the area.

@Afrigirl Line dropped again and contacted your support.

Ticket id #1436582

The consultant has written a detailed report and should show all screenshots and tests done. The tests were done completely by bypassing my network; that being I was directly connected to the fiber box. This should now show that it is 100% a line issue, and not my router.

Thanks!

I'm on a TP-Link EX511, how do I get a new IP address? I think Ubisoft have an issue with my IP and are blocking any login attempts from my IP address. I tried turning my ONT off for 20 - 30 minutes and that didn't do anything.
