10 Mbps ADSL by 2011

I am sorry Telkom you have lied so many times in the past, why should i or any other person believe you now?

Anyone else noted telkom always talk about the future but not about the present?

10mb link. WOW!!! and I am guessing it will be uncapped at R500 per gig?

Sounds about right and no guarantees either so we might get 50k throughput.

*sigh*

Hmmm looks like Telkom Media is going to be a little while in delivering anything sensible over ADSL then hey?

Wow!!!!

Wow arent we luck. in 4 years time we will be lucky enough to have the same entry level speeds as other countries in the world have now......

Telkom are the most useless bunch of dickheads in the world. i keep thinking they cant stick there foot in there mouth anymore than they have already, but then they come along and make statements like this.

honestly i wish that Icasa and Telkom could wake up and smell that we are only about 15 years behind the rest of the world.

I hope that by 2011 Telkom will only be a distant, vague memory triggered only by the smell of sewage as far as I am concerned...

Africa is all about disclaimers. We've had a 'best effort' government and look where that's got us!

Again, leave and forget about this place. I'll be going in the new year and I cannot wait to forget about this continent. It can rot without me, thank you very much.

WOW!!!

Telkodemonopolies never fails to disappoint, 10Mbits/s is a pathetic goal to aim for on a wired fixed line, already 7.2Mbits/s HSPA is available in some countries in Europe, by 2011 we will probably have 14.4Mbits/s HSPA in South Africa, while Telkodemonopolies will be rolling out a whopping so much less service.

South Africa, the only country in the world to implement ADSL2± instead of ADSL2+...

Lol

I wonder how they will manage this they can't even get my 1024MB line to work properly. In fact my 1024MB line is downloaded worse than a 384KB line.

So I reckon they might ass well start selling 11MB lines today and when we can't get the correct speeds they will probably just play dumb again and we have to keep on paying.

One thing we can't say about Telkom is that they aren't stupid because they continously manages to rape the poor South African community for every cent, without even delivering the product and if they can't even get there 4MB lines to work properly how will they manage 11MB.

Being a monopoly doesnt make them smart. It just makes it possible for them to rape us because where else are we meant to get ADSL lines from?

I've given up.. there is no point fighting with this place.

In the last 3 years, 1.2 million South Africans have left. I bet that almost all of them have access to decent internet, education, medical, police, etc..

It's more than just bad internet infrastructure, the whole place is falling apart and it's time to bail out, pull the rip-cord, whatever you want to call it.

Seacom will be fully operational by June/July 2009. I doubt we'll still be at 3gig a month after that.

Then what? Uncapped International @ R50 per gig. Download as much as you want but pay for it. No wait, they already have thaty for local:mad:

By 2011 I will be getting five times that using my Nokia Q531-P cellphone as a modem!!! The 10 Mmps Telkom Connection will be just enough to connect my Fridge to the grocery store so I can shop online....and maybe make a few VOIP calls to my brother in the UK..."yeah ..its me... I calling from my fridge!!"

by 2011 the rest of the world will probably have speeds of 50mbps.
I think thats a little late.

the rest of the world is already past that...
as someone said in this thread already, 24mbit is the norm, other people are getting 50mbit and 100mbit
