10 Mbps ADSL upgrades start this weekend

I'm over this. 512k has been the same, overpriced, POS since it's inception in 2002 and it's likely to remain that way forever.

So now there's going to be a 9.5 Mbps increase in speed between 512k and 4m, for R80-odd more, and a 128 Kbps increase in speed between 384k and 512k for over R100 more. How does that even make sense.

Does anyone know if the Telkom 5102G Router is ADSL 2+ capable? I understand that it is a Billion router?

Edit: Yes it is ADSL 2+ capable but you might have to upgrade the Firmware found on Telkom's site @ http://www.telkomphones.co.za/5102g.htm

My router info states Line Mode ADSL 2+, but am I right in saying this doesn't mean that the exchange is 10mbps capable?

I'm on ADSL2+, and connected to an IMAX exchange (I believe IMAX means it is on the metro ethernet?).

As far as Afrihost are concerned, they have said that they don't have any plans to increase prices on their capped accounts. I'm on their 100GB account

It means that it can from a DSLAM perspective, however there are other factors like metroethernet must be installed at the exchange.
