My line is reporting 12088kbps attainable, 8192kbps synch speed. Speedtest says about 7.5Mbps which sounds about right. Noise margin is 12.7 dB, Line attenuation is 33.2 dB. The synch speed is flapping up and down like a whores panty. Mweb uncapped account still only gives 3.6Mbps...

EDIT : attainable still same, synch now at 4096kbps.

EDIT 2 : synch now at 10240kbps. Guess I will have to report back in the morning on what it settles down too. I am on the Rondebosch Exch.

I know MWeb have already said they may not offer an uncapped 10 Meg option.. but the capped options will be at 10 meg.

yeah at our house we share with 4 pc's on a 4mbps line 3 doing gaming 1 doing facebook so i dont need 10mbps

i am only happy about the 10mbps because it means we are moving forward in SOUTH AFRICA

but who knows with these guys link now working we might have 10mbps uncapped soon

Since when?

Since this eve. Right now my downloads are coming in at just under 10mbps, but it is fluctuating badly, and it keeps dropping and re-synching. Just checked two of my neighbours connections, and theirs are same as mine.

Did you have to reboot your modem, or did it come up by itself? I'm on Clareinch exchange, just got ADSL2+ this morning.

I was going to ask if ISP makes any difference (preference to some users?), or is it all 4Mbps lines?

First thing this morning my line was still on ADSL (G.Dmt), and the line kept dropping. It has been rock steady since I switched to ADSL2+ (G.Dmt.BisPlus). I'm 2.5km from the exchange, so my line attenuation might not be ideal (SNR is good).

Code:
SNR Margin(Upstream) 12.0 dB
SNR Margin(Downstream) 25.55 dB
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 12.0 dB
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 32.0 dB

Mode: G.DMT
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 11040 784
Rate (Kbps): 4096 640

doesnt connect if i force the mode to adsl2 or 2+ :(

Does your telephone number start with 021674 or 021671? No you dont need to reboot... At least not on my router.

just plain unfair i am in the middle of nowhere hope we will get it before 2011 lol

I'm on 021-671XXXX. You mean the ADSL2+ just decides to go faster when the exchange tells it to??

My modem keeps updating the SNR every second (G.Dmt.BisPlus), but its a Billion W40, so a reboot might be necessary...

Edit: 22h40, nothing yet. Might be my line, or modem, or Clareinch is being done in stages...

and after that webpage u must enter ur info, this is what i got:

Your maximum line connection speed using an ADSL (up to 8Mbps) service is:
If using a BT Wholesale Max product, then your expected IP Profile (sometimes called BRAS Data Rate) will be.
The IP Profile is set based on the lowest speed seen in the last 5 days, it drops immediately, but may take 5 days to improve even if you reconnect at a good speed again.

If your service provider uses ADSL2+ the maximum line speed likely is:
With ADSL2+ the maximum IP throughput (result from a speedtest) is likely to be around:
The range of ADSL speeds expected at this attenuation are 8060Kbps to 8128Kbps
Your ADSL2+ speeds are likely to be in the range 20700Kbps to 20700Kbps.
If your ADSL or ADSL2+ connection speeds are slow for the attenuation of your telephone line then take a look at this guide to removing the ring wire from your extensions.

I am getting numbers consistent numbers with my line sync and account speed that being 4096kbps, Norwood, Johannesburg.. I've never seen the consistency in results before though across a broad spectrum of servers so something has been tweaked albeit not the 9.65mb Rosaudio is experiencing... :(

They were tinkering with the lines this
morning. It stopped synching for a while.

I guess they updated the exchange.
