What guarantee's do they have with this upgrade. Would it be 1024 "up to" 10megs?

Are you on www.guitarforum.co.za ?
Correct
Your line conditions would allow you up to even 24Mbps... but, like me, your exchange hasn't been upgraded and you're syncing up at G.DMT which has a max sync rate of 8Mbps, which would be great in itself for the meantime, but apparently Telkom, as doff as they are, wont allow G.DMT customers to sync at higher than 4Mbps - only ADSL2+ exchanges will sync faster than 4Mbps... ^_^Hi there, Can anyone be able to tell me if my router/exchange can support 10mbit? <snip>
12db down is fine as long as its fairly stable... downstream rate depends on downstream SNR and his DS SNR is like 22 which is good. He's less than 600m from exchange which is why he'd easily get up to 20Mbps.dont see him getting more than 4 megs with 12 DB SNR UP or would he
What my router reports:
Code:Attainable Rate (Kbps): 12320 1208 Rate (Kbps): 4096 512
Type: TP-Link ADSL2+ TD-W8910G

Anyways, guys this isnt the place to all ask whether your lines are capable. Google is your friend. Basically, your modem needs to be syncing at ADSL2+, your SNR must be fairly high (DS above 10), and your Attennuation needs to be low - downstream should ideally be less than 35dB for stable 10Mbps
I really don't see any reason for telkom to upgrade 384. At most you may see a 384 to 512 and 512 to 756, but as soon as you give the lower end lines too much throughput it takes away the incentive for people to pay for the higher end lines.
I'm on 4mb and I know if 512 went to say 1mb I would definitely downgrade.
are those your attennuation, or noise margin figures? You MIGHT be able to get 10Mbps with 37dB attennuation... 35-37dB is on the edge there, so it depends on other factors like how good (high) your noise margins are also, and also of course what modem/router you use...so if my downstream is 37db there is a good chance of getting an upgrade??my upstream is 20db,(im on a 4mb uncapped line)
