The guy wanted this deal, wasted half day in the queue in the Buccleuch head office, TV was present. Yesterday he came to me for help, SIM not working. It is my bad, I told him about this deal. He said, keep this s$!t, I don't really want it. :(

It looks like the SIM is not preloaded with data at all. It allows only to access Cell C Web site, any other destignation is redirected to Cell C with a message: load airtime.

*101# returns "Available Balance: R0.00. You are on the 3GB DATA SIM tariff".
*147# (something) returns no bundle loaded.

I called Customer Centre and 084-1555-555. They are living on some other planet, they don't know anything about Cell C LTE launch nor where their head office in Joburg is, but they promised to call me back. Nothing happens...

Does he have proof of purchase? Lol
I doubt so, knowing the guy. But he paid with credit card, there is a record. :)

I received call this afternoon, this matter will be resolved by issuing a new SIM card on Monday. What Cell C don't know yet, as we discovered it later, the guy wrote down phone number of the new SIM and what he received is not the same. Fraud or a mistake.

Uhmm... Take it back to where it was purchased? If you rant hard enough I'm pretty sure they'll fix it. Did you or the other person buy it? Take a copy of the ID of the original purchaser with you. Even if you don't have proof of purchase, they must have some record of it.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see this is in the process of being resolved. :)

Tell your friend to ask for another card due to the inconvenience

Smells fishy, if its not from cell c direct then its not their fault. If your buddy bought it from a third party then probably he was scammed.

I already told him he should ask for extending validity period from 3 months to one year - due to the inconvenience. :)

SIM swap was made on Monday and now bundle is loaded, but no LTE access.
The guy came again to me, I made a call to the customer centre.
It seems they had problem reading SIM settings, as they asked me to remove SIM from the phone and read what was printed on the SIM. It is 128K Power SIM, it shouldn't be a problem.
Logged reference number, also added request to extend bundle validity period. :)

Received feedback, starting from Monday router connects to LTE network. Not only @home (which is under regular coverage), but also at work (Austing View, Midrand next to Allandale Road) which is not officially covered according to the map. So Cell C is expanding their coverage.

12 days of dispute, SIM problem is solved, still don't know whether vailidity time will be extended. Pushing little hard, I know. :)

Good for you (and for Cell C), as you are going to recommend this service. :)

Hi sajunky,

Did you not get a recharge voucher? The sim cards were accompanied by vouchers which needed to be loaded.

^SM

LOL, I don't know, maybe the guy received recharge voucher with SIM, but he didn't load it, as ballance was 0 (as indicated in my first message) and he would tell me that. Thaks for replying, I will ask him whether he still has a voucher. :)

I spoke to the guy, and now it becomes clear what happened.
He didn't receive a new SIM card at all!

He came with stupid idea and he gave at the till his own SIM card, as lady confirmed that bundle would be transfered to his old card and RICA was not done at this time.

He must have been the only guy who came with such stupid idea. 1 guy per 1500!!!

Anyway he is happy now. I borrowed him my LTE router for 3 months and speeds are good (don't know exact numbers).

Sounds dodgy, I bet he doesn't have proof of purchase

I saw your first reply, bugger off bastard, you don't need to repeat yourself.
Nothing is dodgy there, sajunky is not. Nor his friends...

Edit: He paid by credit card, even he don't keep a slip, there is a proof.
