128GB SSD

It usually takes less than 2 business days for the order to be ready for collection at WootWare.

Drivers updated:

That's no improvement over the previous results that you've posted. Only the 4K read/writes improved slightly.

I'm really curious as to why the zero fill is so much (almost 4x) faster!?

Geesus!!!! What drivers where??

Only did the INF and IRST drivers that I got from the intel website.

I don't know why, but I am starting to thing that is the speed the guys are advertising. I have to say, this drive doesn't feel faster than my Samsung 256GB SSD that I had. :( Still, I am very happy with it. :)

Why would it feel faster though? In everyday working conditions it should not be faster. You should only notice it when you using it true power.

Certain things still feels slow on the SSD's.
Like my Windows 7 takes longer to get to the login screen with my gaming PC (i7 940 + 120GB SSD), than it takes with my for my Dell laptop (C2D T7200 + 120GB 5000rpm HDD) to the same spot. But then after that... EVERYTHING changes!
I then have to wait a few minutes for my laptop to settle, where as with my gaming PC I can open Outlook, Firefox, Winamp, Steam & Netbeans a few seconds later and they'll all open up in under 10s.

The games really load much much faster from the SSD than they ever did from my HDD. Like DotA would load in under 5s from the lobby to the play screen, where it previously took at least 10s.

Some games still load rather long with my SSD, like BF:BC2 & CoD:BO, but I'd guess that this is mostly due to the network/latencies to the master servers!?

With SSD's you'll notice the performance difference with opening up multiple applications at the same time (more RAM won't help, because nothing is cached yet),
software development where you're sitting with 1000's of small source code, documentation files and databases,
CAD/graphics designing, where you also have massive workspaces (500MB+) for a single screen/image

Not all lines of work require SSD's - eg. secretary / financial officer ;)
For a gaming/home PC, it is still a luxury to have, because time isn't as valuable at home as it is at the office. Of course there are lots of us who value the time at home more, which is why SSD's are perfect for us for home use :D

At least the SSD's doesn't cost as much as the Yamaha LS9 mixing console (~R100k !) that we just got at our church :p

My first SSD was only SATA3g and this one is SATA6g. ;)

With my previous SSD, I was normally the first onto a map in COD BO, but this isn't the case anymore. Yes, there has been a couple of patches released for the game since then, but surely, my SSD should still load faster than my mates' pcs with normal HDDs. Unless latencies has something to do with loading times, which I can't believe. :wtf:

depends on the game hey, like battlefield bc2 would load slowly due to amd drivers but when they fixed it whether you had a ssd or not the maps loaded very fast, although i had the ssd so i have no idea how fast they loaded but it was instant for me :D

basically whether you are using sata 3g or 6g it would not make a difference if games and apps are not using the difference. The latency would be the same on both drives i would imagine so there should be very little to choose from the drives. The only time you will notice a difference is when you use a program that will use all the bandwidth available. windows, games and apps won't run faster. Well not noticeably faster anyhow, you need to a benching program to check the differences
