13 hours downtime

we have an adsl line and pay for the adsl bit every month but for the last month or so nobody connects with it and we are no longer on any ADSL ISP

I fail to understand the logic here - it makes absolutely no sense.

Your saying you have an ADSL line which your renting, but have decided not to get an ISP account because nobody connects with it ?
That wouldn't even be logical of your iBurst was working 100%
For R279 you can get 5gig ?

The mind boggles - "boggle boggle" ;)

While common practice internationally only SAIX (& most of their resellers) adsl accounts seems to actually have this.

This was suggested to Sentech "back-in-the-day" but was turned down since they would have to roll-out dedicated hardware for "backup" ...

I'd guess WBS would have the same attitude to this ...
 
99.99% uptime usually means downtime of around 3 (?) days per year. Can anyone quickly workout what iBurst's uptime % is?
 
99.99% sounds about right for my connection when I was uncapped, and most of the capped time it has been within 61kbps and 64kbps.

Similar thing happened to me, with online share trading, I got an SMS alert to buy and had no "coinnection" ;/
I wouldnt have got to an internet cafe intime....
lost enuff to pay for 3 months inet.

Slimothy talks utter ****, regarding an spare adsl line. I bet he cant get adsl and wish he could. Perhaps on fibre exchange? Now hes in utter denial, even with iburst giving him alot of ****(dont tell me you have no problems) he would allways use the whole 1mbit argument. Well 1mbit is pointless when you cant even get it on iburst.

You post about loss of money and 13hrs downtime, yet you stick with it. I think that qualifies for some serious councelling.

don't be a d1ckhole, so now you know more about my house than I do? I live with one brother and his friend, I moved in from last year and they used ADSL (they shared a connection) but now my brother uses 3g and I have been using iburst since january and his friend wasnt willing to pay the bill by himself for his moderate usage.

I have even mentioned it before so don't go crazy like i'm making stuff up because I want to impress you by saying I have an adsl line, go read back even in pre launch when my tower went down I would come post on adsl and say so, its on the forum for your reading. I had adsl before iburst retard.

And for clarification this wasnt a post to say "blah blah iburst sucks its so unreliable" it was more to show that if a tower goes down out of office hours chances are it won't be sorted till the next day, and if the maintenence required is intensive then that just prolongs it further
