I called Telkom in Cape Town on thursday to enquire when the 384 upgrade would take place and i was told that they are "wekking one erea to the next" when that erea is finished then they will do my erea. I was upgraded to a 384 line yesterday, i suppose once you call them and complain they attend to it immediately. I'm in Sea Point

Is it a matter of Telkom flipping a switch at the exchange or must techies come and do something physically to your line?

All they do is flip a switch at the exchange and it must be a big switch because when they charge, you normally pay big

Nicest guys at Telkom are their Techies

Ok so i finally experienced their upgrade yay!! I also happened to stumble upon an ftp site that's accessable from the guest account on telkom. This ftp site had a copy of redhat linux and slakware on. I guess I will download it tonight using my free bandwidth :p

Adsl 192..

When I started off with adsl 192 I had a speed test result of 30to 34 kbps but this did not last long and went down to 10 to maybe 20 kbps so I got to thinking what is 384 adsl supposed to be and why this fluctuation in speed downloads, do we just shut up and eccept or can we do something about it.
I am not sure if we can with Telkom in the driving seat...
