So this is the way I understand what has happened. I used to have a 320/192 line. Telkom said they would double my speed, if possible, for R25.00 less per month. What actually happened was my line changed to 384/128. The 384 dl has not come into effect but the 128 has!

SO NOW I AM WORSE OFF THAN BEFORE!

Only in South Africa and with Telkom can "Upgrade" = "WORSE".

I love playing AOE online. On the 31/7/2006 I could. Since the 1/8/2006 I can't because my upload speed is too slow.

Man, how can they do this.

Be patient people... although telkom have said the 1st of August, what they really meen is 'By 30th August', everyone should be upgraded...

My line's just sync'd at 384/128 for the first time but the speed is horrible and jumpy... I used to get constant 20KB/s when sync'ing at 320. I just hope this is all part of the upgrading process!

Heh, well today my line syncs at 384/128 as opposed to the 320/192 I had before. I had assumed that the extra was for overheads and stuff so the line could actually do 192. So not sure what the case is now. But to me it looks like they added 64 to download and subtracted it from upload, awesome "upgrade"...

Gang thats not that they told me when i foned .. they told me .. we have a notice here "stating DURING august the lines will be upgraded.

Steven Hayward, Managing Executive for Retail Marketing, said that DSL 192 customers can expect to be automatically upgraded during August.

“Existing DSL 192 users will automatically be upgraded to the 384 DSL service during August 2006. Customers who are unable to connect (sync) at 384 kbps due to factors such as line length or quality will be accommodated down from 384 kbps in 32 kbps decrements, but not lower than 192 kbps, until the service connects (sync’s successfully),” Hayward said.

You dont get the speeds you sync at. The upload for ADSL192 is 64k and the download 192k although we all know we're only getting about 174k or so. So ADSL384 is twice the speed of ADSL192 upload and download. Default upload for 384 is 128k. So ya just clearing that up biatches!

but you are not gonna get that speed ( unless your line is perfect - I had someone download at 52kbps on a 384 line) but more realistic you will get around 32-38. sad but tru

32kB/s means that it would basically be a 256k connection, i sure wouldnt be happy if thats the speed i got :/
