Ah, so this is the result of the new undersea cables that landed etc start of this month.. I doubt we would see anything close to this, not even 1Mbps(0.001Gbps) at that price uncapped when ours land.

most of the web servers are on 10mb to 100mb lines so from 100 up you wont notice anything

The internet will become so fast one day, that your PC hardware will fail of all the speed. You'll need to buy Fiber NIC's, RAID HDD's, Multi-Core CPU's and GPU's, just to handle all that speed.

Unfortunately most people in this country don't realise what Telkom is doing to them.

Believe me, from the sore feeling in my a** I know exactly what Telkom is doing to me.

Remember reading somewhere that the Hong Kong guys have included a couple movies a month. Only the 1Gbps people qualify and in order to ensure that nobody else downloads their DVD quality movies the server times out in like 1 minute or so.

Nowadays we only use our connection for browsing, email and a little bit of gaming and that consumes 10Gb by month end.
Downloading movies or something like that is only a pipe dream. I am not prepared to P2P.

Something is wrong on your side. Our household is also on R70 pre-paid @ 384 Kbps. I have a teenage daughter constantly downloading Youtube videos and playing Team Nations Racing, the missus administrating numerous web sites for clients and me, a mixture of all of the above plus a bit of streaming audio.

There are four PC’s on our home network, each receiving their daily updates from Microsoft, AVG and Malewarebytes.

I start getting crabby when we get close to 4 Gigs of usage for the month (I get sms notifications of every Gig used)

Have a look at the network activity on your Router when no one is on the net. It should be minimal.

Lately, some of my clients were reporting a five-fold monthly increase in data usage. Turned out to be Rootkits in every instance – turns their PC into a transmitter/relay station. Massive downloads and uploads but hardly any change in Hard Drive free space.
