1Gbps service for R466

Boy, talk about stream rolling ahead...

Spose someone needs to set the standards..

wtf, why cant we even get 3 gigs at 1 mb at that price ?

How much smaller is 384k than 1Gbps? Am I being ripped off?

↑

Unfortunately most people in this country don't realise what Telkom is doing to them.

well obviously 384 000 is a lot better than 1 :D
I hate telkom so much now.

Downloading is one thing, but just imagine normal browsing at those speeds....can u actually get quicker that instantly?

If only the minister of communication were reading these articles... (or one of her advisers)

Neotel was "supposed" to put down an infrastructure like this? Gone wireless! Where is Vodacom / MTN? Oh, also wireless (GSM based) - only one left with an infrastructure - TELKOM!! lol

The internet will become so fast one day, that your PC hardware will fail of all the speed. You'll need to buy Fiber NIC's, RAID HDD's, Multi-Core CPU's and GPU's, just to handle all that speed.

I think that municipalities should deploy their own infrastructures (if the money is not being scammed or robbed by illegal transactions by government)

Then again, did you people see the state the cables are overseas? Fibre is hanging all over the place. You can even hang your washed clothing on it ! It's right next to your flat window...

I like the US setup. They have fibre all over the place, its just the last 30m or so that needs to be connected to your home. Verizon FiOS

A typical fibre cable has 2000 little strands. You only need one of them to your house, and obviously plugged in on the other side @ central telco office.

Arg! Why are we still in this country? Someone please bring FTTH to Africa!

don't worry, well be there this time next year. this country is going great. everything is a o k.
we are building a nation aren't we? right DEVILL?
NOT:mad:

Yep pisses me off to :( @#$%@#$^@#$%!#@

The price of bandwidth here is now really starting to get old.
Slower too. My 384Kb connection was a lot "zippier" up until they came in with per GB Billing, now at R70 a GB for prepaid.
You know how quickly a household can chew up 1Gb and that is without downloading a singe thing.

Nowadays we only use our connection for browsing, email and a little bit of gaming and that consumes 10Gb by month end.
Downloading movies or something like that is only a pipe dream. I am not prepared to P2P.

*drool* imagine that line, with a 10GB cap. You could download at full speed for a whole 10 seconds... Go to hell Telscum ...

OK, what gets me is that Telkom has been stuck on the same level of caps for the last three years. "3Gb is enough for the average home user". They can raise prices because of inflation but can't they increase our caps also in line with the growth of the internet?

We should make an appeal to ICASA to allow our caps to grown on an annual basis. It's only fair. Our 3 Gb caps should be 5 or 6 Gb caps by now.
