2007/2008 WI tour to SA thread

:) Well played South Africa.

This doesn't look like it is going to be a very exciting series. The result is all but concluded. It's a pity the West Indies team is as weak as it is and won't give us a good challenge.
Yeah a pretty clinical display from SA and you quite right, we not being tested and I know you want us to be stretched a bit but the tough tours are coming up. I reckon it's good for the team to be getting a bit of batting and bowling practice against this average Windies line up. I'm happy the guys are building a bit of self confidence and hopefully Gibbs can find some form, we going to need him, he must find form as must Ntini. Pollock is going to be sorely missed, he is irreplaceable!!!

gibbs should be dropped. ab moved up the order and albie brought in.

gibbs has had all the opportunity to find form already. he has not taken them.

But then the quota wouldn't be satisfied ;) And if they bring in Ntini to satisfy the quota, then he's going to weaken the bowling attack.

I would leave out Botha and bring in Albie. Spinners don't usually finish their 10 overs anyway. If Biff could work on his bowling, I'm sure he could get a few overs in. If we really need a specialist spinner, then replace Botha with Harris. I haven't seen Botha contribute anything significant yet. Also, Albie should be able to secure his place after Polly retires.
I never rated him. He is such a one dimensional bowler.:rolleyes:
I was never a big Ntini fan myself. He was ok when he started off, but he's been relegated to mediocre now that people have worked him out. You already know the direction the ball is moving in before he delivers it.

Funny how everyone was singing a different tune after the first test:D. Pity the Windies had injuries to key players:o.

Well that was a very easy win for SA. :D We have the series in the bag, now we just gotta send the Windies home with a nice whitewash.

Agreed, that we must for our own sake and future tours whitwash these windies in the remaining ODI's. Good to see Bif getting some ODI form again. Gibbs is struggling big time... What about Puttick guys or maybe moving Duminy up the order to see how he goes? People tend to forget that last time we toured the windies, Boeta Dippenaar got man of the series for the ODI's. He scored a mountain of runs.

Ntini is lacking variety and is now severely exposed due to him losing 10km/h in pace as well... Let him go off in the sunshine, i reckon...

Albie as a long term solution to Pollock... Maybe, or maybe his bro Morne. He is not that bad with the bat either (at least at regional level)

Keep Botha in the ODI's. He is improving every match and we need the variety in our attack.

Just curious, who's gonna be at the cricket on sunday ?
I'm gonna be there, with 3 other people. :D:cool:

to be honest, it's not even worthwhile watching this series anymore. i'll wait for the series against bangladesh.

nah, bangladesh is competetive every 20 matches or so...

I hear they are going to give either Nel or Ntini another go the next ODI in place of either steyn or morkel... I reckon that is a mistake. These guys should play and get experience as much as they can. They are the future of our attack!!! Like Donald/De Villiers in the golden old days.

agreed.

Meyrick Pringle - He was really good and had a good '92 WC together with Snel (*hidden Laughter*) He swung the ball miles!!!

Brett Schultz had ONE good tour to Sri Lanka and nothing afterward due to knee and arm/elbow problems... Was very quick though...

I wouldn't write Ntini off just yet, there's no substitute for pace and Wanderers and Kingsmead are 2 pitches that suit his style. He's been out of form of late but I would still have him in my side as opposed to Botha or Harris. Don't rate either spinner really, SA doesn't produce world class spinners. You got to ask yourself why bother? I don't think there's a ranked side in test or one day cricket that would select either Harris or Botha as their specialist spinner...

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion:).
