South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn has been found guilty under the International Cricket Council's Code of Conduct following an incident that took place during the third Test between South Africa and the West Indies in Durban.
Steyn was reported by the umpires - on-field officials Simon Taufel and Aleem Dar, third umpire Brian Jerling and fourth official Zed Ndamane -and charged under the section of the Code of Conduct which deals with breaches relating to the Spirit of Cricket.
The charge related to an incident during the West Indies' second innings with Steyn being found guilty of showing disrespect to batsman Marlon Samuels through his physical and verbal actions. Steyn pleaded not guilty to the charge.
"Taking everything into consideration and looking at video evidence of the incident I found the player guilty," said Roshan Mahanama of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees, who heard the case.
"The Code of Conduct clearly states that players must, at all times, conduct play within the spirit of the game as well as within the laws.
It is something I discussed with the captains before the series began and I feel there is a need to show respect for the opposition, even in the heat of battle," said Mahanama.
"That said, when considering which penalty to impose I took into account that it was this player's first offence of this nature."
Steyn got what he deserved for his little childish 'performance'
Anyway, MoM could have gone to that tub of lard Smith but Prince was more deserving having been consistently good in both innings! Think he scored 98 in the first innings.

....and what did Aleem Dar get for denying Dale Steyn two LBW decisions early on in the day when hawkeye showed the ball hitting half way up middle stump in the one instance and about the same height between middle and leg for the other!?!?!
The players are unable to show frustration even when the umpires make shocking decisions and they are toiling away in 32 degree weather?!?!
Society is trying to sugar coat everything... no sledging in cricket, no rucking in rugby.... tut tut the world is becoming so damn PC!
How do we drop if we win ?????????????????![]()

Drop in the rankings
Despite winning the third Test against the West Indies in Durban and the series 2-1, South Africa have slipped two places to fourth in the ICC Test Championship with India moving up to second.
The Proteas went into the series in second position knowing they needed to win the series at least 2-0 in order to maintain that lead.
Having lost the first Test in Port Elizabeth, Graeme Smith's team did well to win the series with victories at Cape Town and Durban, but such is the weighting system when playing teams further down the table, it means they lose one ratings point in the latest Test Championship table.
Given how tight it was with just two ratings points separating South Africa in second place and England in fifth, that single point has made a big difference to the table.
South Africa's loss is India's gain as Anil Kumble's team move up to second spot in the table. India are level on points with Sri Lanka but are shown to be ahead of Mahela Jayawardena's team when the points are calculated beyond the decimal point.
And despite losing the series, the West Indies can take some solace in the fact they have gained one ratings point in eighth place and have now closed the gap on New Zealand in seventh to 18 points.
It was far from being a joyless series for the men from the Caribbean after they registered their first ever Test win on South African soil with that PE victory.
Australia are still way out in front of the rest on 143 ratings points, some 34 clear of their nearest rivals.
The Championship table is updated only at the end of each series so it is likely some more movement will be seen in the coming weeks when the series involving Australia and India as well as New Zealand and Bangladesh come to an end.

Pretty sad when the 8th best test bowler and the best ODI bowler in the world is pushed into retiring by incompetant administrators... but i suppose we are used to this in SA!
Also interesting to note Dale Steyn meteoric rise up the rankings! Go man!
