All of you remember Johann Botha's bowling action. He was suspended.

South African spinner Johan Botha will continue to work on his bowling action after the International Cricket Council said he was still bending his arm beyond the stipulated 15 degrees.

This is his bowling action. Please tell me if Malinga's is fair after you seen the clip. And why is it going unnoticed??

Screw that I'm gonna flood the ICC with complaints about his action. Being allowed to release the ball at a flat trajectory is obviously an unfair advantage when other bowlers have to release it from above their heads. Because of this the batsmen are not able to read the pace and movement of the ball.

When the aussies struggle vs them they will no doubt complain.
Well I'm certainly not going to sit back and allow them to get away with this. You guys are welcome to join in and write to the media and the ICC, or you could do the traditional Saffer thing and keep quiet about it.

How the hell is Malinga's bowling technique legal? The guy is basically "hurling" the ball at the wicket.

Nice celebration from Pieterson! :D

His arm looks like it stays straight throughout his delivery action, it's just further away from his body than other bowlers. Chucking is defined as a bent arm straightening while the ball is being released...

Still provides an unfair advantage

Yeah, I can also see some investigation into this coming...

He got that four wickets because it's very difficult to pick the ball up, seeing as he's bowling the ball from infront of the umpire and not wit the black boards behind the ball.

I'm sure you guys weren't complaining when Paul Adams appeared on the scene and started bamboozling batsmen with his dodgy bowling action?

Besides that it's hard to pick up the pace of the ball (for eg. slower balls) because he doesn't have to change the speed of his arm, he only needs to put some spin on it which is hard to pick up if the ball is coming out almost sideways. And also because it comes out sideways, it's hard to determine the seam movement coming out of his arm so the batsman wouldn't know whether it's going to swing in or away. Add to that, you're right in saying that at the point of release it's hard to pick up the ball because it's coming out in front of the umpire, not above his head (like every other bowler has to do) where the ball would be visible against the black sight screen.

What about Murali's action then, and his excuse that he bends his arms because it's a medical condition? As dodgy looking as Adam's action was, he released the ball above his head making it clearly visible against the sight screen. And it wasn't being hurled at batsmen at 150km/h.

Malinga actually does himself no favours by bowling like that. If he releases the ball to early or too late, it's a wide. Other bowlers just get a bouncer for the same mistake.
