Damn that was a shocking finish from SA, and 4 wickets off 4 balls? wtf?
Well played langevelt, Smith & Kallis.

Piss-poor performance by the Proteas.

They are playing such negative cricket, that it's not even lekker to watch it anymore.

Enough said. Boo-hoo.

Malinga actually does himself no favours by bowling like that. If he releases the ball to early or too late, it's a wide. Other bowlers just get a bouncer for the same mistake.
With enough practice it wouldn't be very hard for him to figure out the best point of release.

What about Murali's action then, and his excuse that he bends his arms because it's a medical condition? As dodgy looking as Adam's action was, he released the ball above his head making it clearly visible against the sight screen. And it wasn't being hurled at batsmen at 150km/h.

Murali doesn't straighten his arm at all, so it's not chucking... other bowlers aren't doing the same thing as Malinga because it's so hard to control the ball. If they could they would, they'd take any advantage they can get to give them an edge.

A win is a win in a World Cup.
Not very convincing, but nevertheless a win.

Ag, it was the normal SA performance.

The first four batsmen goes out, panic strikes and the whole team collapse.

We will not win the final with the negative cricket we're playing at the moment. Prime example is Andrew Hall - he came forward to block the ball, but if he just followed through, it was a four over the bowler's head.

Watch Murali's doorsra. He throws that one. The normal ball is not thrown.
Agreed! He was investigated and Sri Lanka pulled out medical reports etc. He is throwing...plain and simple.

BTW: Damn glad that SA won. If they lost this one I think they would have really struggled to come back from it. I know I would have :D

Can you imagine the furore if Murali was cited for throwing. The ICC is scared of the Asian cricket board, full stop. Murali definately throws the ****ra.

I am glad we won, 2 points is 2 points. We learnt a valuable lesson, not to take any game for granted. Fight until we have won.

Kallis definately made up for his bad start in the previous Australia game.

I do think SA is missing a classy middle order batsman.

Thats because Asia is where the money in cricket is. I remember reading somewhere that India controls 50% of the money in cricket. Also, at one stage, Tendulks was paid 3 times more then any non Indian player. Dravid and Ganguly were paid twice what any non Indian player was payed.

Regarding bowling actions.

The law about the bowling action comprises three parts:

The stride, the action and the release. We all know about the stride (e.g. overstepping, etc). The action and release laws are quite misunderstood, so I will try and put it as clearly as possible here.
The following conditions apply:

1. If a bowler enters his action at the top of his arc with his arm bent at the elbow with an angle greater than 15 degrees, he may not straighten his arm during release.
2. If a bowler enters his action at the top of his arc with his arm straightened, he may not bend his arm more than 15 degress during or immediately before release.
3. A maximum of one revolution of the arm throughout the delivery action is permitted.
4. A bowler may flex and rotate his wrists as long as the above are adhered to.
5. A bowler may not leverage the angle created by hyperextending his elbow (extend his elbow joint by a negative angle with respect to the upper arm)

There is no restriction on the trajectory, though there are other restrictions such as the ball may not bounce more than twice and rolling deliveries are not permitted.

Dear SA Cricket Team,

Please find attached invoice for ten years of my life; the amount I aged watching last night's match.

Congratulations on your exciting win, and best of luck for the rest of the tournament. Subject to my doctor's approval I will be supporting all the way.

Yours,

chiskop

Malinga looks more like a Chucka than a bowler...

Yeah, I can't help laughing every time I see him bowl. It's unorthodox, but I don't think he's chucking and I don't think it's illegal.
