This was indeed a big let down. I wonder why they host it at this time of the year when it rains so much anyway. :(

This can't really be called a world cup. Some of our local one day games at domestic level has better attendances than this cup. This is really disappointing. It's world cup the biggest event in crickets diary and they aren't managing to fill one ground for 1 game.

I hope this improves it's really a let down to watch a game with half empty stadiums.

Holding thumbs for a WI win today. If WI loose, they are probably out of the WC and then there will be no crowds at the grounds at all. There should have been no way that India and Pakistan could have been knocked out so early. They should probably have little regional tourny's with the sides from each group and some sort of play each side twice, then the two finalists go through to a Super 8 type story which is the WC proper. Then each of the sides in the WC proper play each other to determine the finalists.

You can tell the windies cricket board what u think of their WC at wicb@candw.ag
. This email addy i got off ICC web site. The west indian cricket board web site has no contact details. lol.
Also u can send your dissappointment to the ICC themselves via their web site

Not saying anything was untoward. The problem is that you need the big fish in to have the support/crowds. Look at yesterdays game, did anyone even watch it? But a Pakistan/Aus game, that would have been a different fish. I would be very suprised if Bangladesh or Ireland get close to winning any more games and this only diminishes the value of the tournament. There are too many games in the WC. If there were only a Super 8 stage, then it would be a different kettle of fish. Every game would count for something.

You have to give smaller sides a chance in the group stages to show what they're made of and they do improve over time. I bet that in the next world cup Bangladesh will be a force to be reckoned with. I mean most of their players are in their early 20s and have like 60 matches under their belt already!

And I also hope the Windies make it through to the semis for the sole reason of bigger crowds. Why don't these people just drop the prices now ffs? It really is k@k watching a game with an empty ground and no atmosphere.

If someone of the bigger sides get knocked out at the football world do you see spectators totally disappear?? When France and Argentina got knocked out early at wc 2002 in japan and korea the fans didn't disappear. It had no real effect on the numbers at the games. No football and cricket might be a different games but I can't see why the football fans seem to be more willing to watch games than cricket followers. It has to be the pricing.

they really need to look at the pricing. You can't have a wc with half empty grounds. It's bad for the games image.

Yes, but that part of the tournament could be held in different countries with a play each side twice story. Then Bangladesh could still have won their game and but India would have gone through. That part could be played around the world about 3 months before the WC proper.

ticket prices should've been lower and if the WI didnt look to rip off the tourist then it would've been ok. Bang and Ireland went through fair and square. No need to blame them for poor turnout.

Makes me think that SA actually did a pretty damn good job hosting the 2003 WC. Props to them.
