If your expectations weren't so high from the start, you wouldn't be so disappointed!

What nobody seems to want to says is that recent results sure put our India and Pakistan series results into perspective.

Also, let's not forget who put India out of CWC.

I disagree that it's rigged. We have a sht capt, who panicked so badly against the Aussies, and a sht coach who's only claim to fame is ....

He coached Griquas in the domestic competition before taking over the Eastern Cape side in 2003, and guiding them to the finals of the Standard Bank Pro20 series in the last two seasons. He was a slightly surprising choice to take over as the national coach in May 2005, succeeding Ray Jennings.

His first two Test series as coach happened to be against a rampant Australia, both away and at home, and South Africa were easily brushed aside. In between, an injury-hit South Africa failed to make the finals of the 2005-06 VB Series, but they did clinch a tense one-day series win over Australia at home, which culminated in that match at Johannesburg. A home win over New Zealand was followed up by a disasturous tour of Sri Lanka in the summer of 2006, where South Africa lost both Tests and pulled out of a tri-series after a bomb exploded in Colombo, and failure to make the final of the ICC Champions Trophy. Arthur's recent successes include back-to-back Test and one-day series victories against India and Pakistan at home, and his next task is the biggest limited-overs tournament of them all, the World Cup.

All that having been said, my heart says I really hope we win the CWC. My head says, bwahahahahaha!

I think that if we reach the semis with this capt and this coach, we must consider it a successful CWC. After all. We're severly handicapped by these two.
 
Damn, Herchelle Gibbs must play today - he is the most exciting one-day player & the reason I watch cricket!

But I could see he was not his normal self against the Bangladesh Tigers....
 
Well all you guys are knocking Smith so Im gonna defend him. Just look at other top sides, their captains are WAY more experienced, Ponting, Fleming, Jayawardene, Lara. Smith is doing a pretty good job for such a "young" guy but I do agree his decisions might have been a bit off so far. If we dont support our own captain then I dont know, we just gotta hope that they turn up the heat today and end the Windies hold against us in WCs.

The death of Bob Woolmer. The way that some teams perform (SA)

I'm clearly convinced that it's rigged. Who wants to bet that AUS will win ?
They don't get cuaght up in the match fixing crap. They had their issues, but SA will never even make the Semi's sad but true... I can't belive that they can play so K.a.K !

Errrrr Mark Waugh, and Stevie, Warne, were all and their old cappy cant remember his name, were all implicated when Hansie got caught.

I think from what I know mainly the Indian and Pakistan matches are always fixed most of the time. Now that they out I doubt there still match fixing going on, but who knows.

Finally someone has come out and said it. I would like to take it further though. Out of the last few matches we've played, everything's gone according to plan, then suddenly when a wicket or two falls quickly, there appears to be no plan b to fall back on to. It's almost as if strategy is only considered in the Best case scenario but forgotten when that strategy turns out to be rather lacking. What makes Australia a brilliant team is the fact that even when their backs are to the wall, they are always thinking of ways to bounce back and they are never scared to try something. Inevitably, just trying something out of the ordinary pays off as we have seen so many times with Australia.

Strategising think tanks is an important part of cricket today, and it's the reason why New Zealand and Australian cricket is so clinical and exciting today. The lack of a strategically minded think tank is the reason why West Inidies, SA and many other teams are suffering right now.

I'm not trying to start anything Pitbull. I understand that it's your opinion and that it has "merit". You can't prove anything either & the onus should be on you to prove skulduggery, not me to prove the abscence of it.

I'm only expressing my opinion.

I think the whole cricket world wants to see someone else take the WC.
If your sudden brain wave is about the Bangladesh game, I say they played well, the SA bowlers gave them to many chancers.

The Windies just feeling the pressure of being the Hosts, Bob murder, the lack of crowds etc etc etc.

Aus normal, winning all their games, NZ coming up strong. SL consistent as ever.
SA realising their "Choking" names stuck with them.

Cant say much for the newbies.
 
Relax. How would the consistently top-ranked team in the world winning the world cup proof that it is rigged? That's called form.

Read through the last couple of pages here for ideas why SA lost on Saturday - there are a number of quite visible problems that are being discussed here.

Yes, cricket has a real problem with the perception of match-fixing, and it took a long time for me to trust the sport again after 2000.

I'm not saying that all players/all matches are free of the taint - just that the best team in the world winning the world cup is a dubious foundation for the claim that the entire thing is rigged.

We played like retarts and the same went for the Aussie game... What happened agains SL ? O well there goes another chance... The Best 1 day team SA has ever had and they do this... we're a lost case I tell u ... lost !

I'm not knocking him... I'm against the decision to play kemp... okay, yes, he has the ability to shine, but has he done anything in the last 6 games? SA has players like Nel, Hall and Pietersen who are contributing much more than kemp is! Even if bosman was given a chance he'll outplay kemp's current form...:mad:
 
SA lost to Bangladesh because SA are playing predictable cricket. We try the same recipe over and over, and it was inevitable to lose on it's basis. I seriously do not think there's any match fixing at play here. On the day, the better side won - but more importantly, SA lost a game they deserved to lose. Period.

As for Bangladesh - I look forward to seeing how they become a formidable cricketing nation in future. They've got a very young side with obviously mounds of talent - and they certainly deserve their giant-killer status.

Lol!! Its a sport, theres winners and theres losers, SA played like they were playing against lighties and they lost plain and simple.

There is 8 overs left u need a run rate of 11+ HOW can you stand there an not moer the bloody ball... all is lost anyway. But no.... Block, next ball 1 run... If all is lost you might as well just go big !
