You don't try you don't get. Worth a shot.

From April you will be able to buy tickets "over the counter" at ticket booths around the country. Similar to what they did in the confed cup. So for those of you who gave up on the online application you can wait for this.

Also, don't forget about applications through FNB bank.

Why quote me though?

Anyway, I always thought that the FNB system was simple enough.

err, because I am replying to your comment?!? duh

I think I have more chance of winning the lotto than getting tickets to the final.

I've only applied for semi final tickets here in Durban. R2,800 for four. I wonder if they'll insist on the holders presenting ID to prove that they are who they say they are when it actually comes to game time?

I reckon if England get to the semis those tickets will be like gold! :)

I applied for Cat 1 R4200 for 1 ticket semi final Durban. The higher the category the more chance you have of been successfully.Cant take the risk of missing out on a world cup semi final.

But, and it's a big but, the Final and Semi-Finals are oversubscribed in the lottery stage. So there will be no tickets available for these matches when the over-the-counter sales start. If you want to stand a chance of getting tickets for these matches, you'd better buy online or go to FNB before Friday.

I'm just hoping for group stage tickets. Unfortunately I will have to watch the finals from home. The huge TV and unlimited supply of coke and chips at home does ease the pain :<

given the LOC's comments about ticket take up amongst South African's you think that's true?

it's not that there will be no tickets available. but the amount left for that stage might be far less. each round of sales has a certain number of tickets available. in the previous round near the end, you couldn't get a ticket for the opening game in any category. when this round opened, there were tickets available.

When you apply for a certain catergory, you can tick a box that says you will accept a lower cat ticket. So, if you applied for cat 1 you are in that draw, if you don't get a ticket, you go in the cat 2 draw and cat 3 draw. Then if you are from sa you go in the cat 4 draw.

Not for the Semi & Final AFAIK. The only tickets that remain will be the ones held back for the qualifying federations as I understand it.

Well they claim to only have sold a few hundred thousand tickets to ZA'ns and there are ~45 million of us so the maths kind of adds up.
Correlation does not imply causation

He's not correlating anything to show that it causes something though...just telling you what it is based on the numbers.
When people don't know what they are going to get only those willing to gamble their biccies are going to be interested.

FIFA and OG etc know how to do this.

With OG (here in 2000), they were not interested in the person that has long followed athletics, actively participting still, even still involved in admin. Those are the people that would be discriminating and pick and choose what they want.

They wanted those with lots of money, who says "the OG is only going to be here once, I have to go (to say I was there mainly), so I'm going to go for as much as I can get".
You ended up with a stadium full of people with no knowledge of athletics, cheering at the wrong moments, not understanding the idiosyncracies etc and never ever worrying about athletics again.

Its not actually an enjoyable experience at all for an avid follower. The difference in atmosphere at Weltklasse vs OG is chalk and cheese because of the 'knowledge'.

But hey who wants to say he was at Weltklasse vs OG in pub, when most do not even know what the former is?

Same with soccer and FIFA has the 'bums on seats' formula down pat.

I am a bit noob, how does this transaction thing work, they send you a quotation, then you need to confirm before the money gets deducted?

If you bought via credit card they deduct from your account automaticly since during the application you gave them permission.
