2014 Jeep Cherokee

Our first ones arrived today - I am not impressed, unfortunately.

Perceived quality might be there, but actual finish is very plastic, and the doors sound tinny when you close them. I couldn't even drum up the energy to drive one.

Monster Fail IMHO.

:( You have to take it for a drive before you pass final judgment though... I'm sure the 9 speed box will redeem itself?

Adds pinch of salt... We know you hate the brand :D

I absolutely LOVE the Jeep brand, but even I think that this Cherokee should be sent back to hell. That thing is just fugly!!

Subjective opinion... To me, in a dark colour and Trailhawk spec, it looks awesome.

How do people afford a straight finance on vehicles in the 600k region? I can't see myself paying R10k a month for a car, I'm struggling to swallow paying half of that.

Same here. Half that is my max. Not interested in a massive residual... Although I like it and I'm probably attending the launch, I will unfortunately not be able to buy it.

Just saw one on the N1 @ Century City... Black Limited model. Looks good on the road. Photos don't do it justice.

Be sure to post your impressions. :)

It really is incredible. I am sold ;) They didn't have the trailhawk to test drive, so I test drove the 3.2 v6 limited AWB. The power from that engine is incredible, and the fuel economy amazing. I could get it to sip between 3 / 4 on a highway cruise, yet when I drop my foot, the change down and surge forward is almost instant.

The build quality is really up there. Never noticed a thing out of place. The SO is in love, and so am I :) Because the boot is completely flat, it does appear to be limited somewhat, but no biggy for me.

Quite nice to be able to play around with the rear view camera, the auto tail gate etc. The screen on the dash is massive. I'm pretty sure the people behind us at the robot could read what station was playing.

What got my attention right away is just how comfortable this car is. It has nothing on my Alfa's nappa leather! Also the suspension is sublime. Grips in the corner without much body roll and you don't feel the bumps. It's nowhere near as hard as my Alfa.

I could definitely see myself in this baby, for a very long time - just the asking price that is the issue.
