Korean luxury brand Genesis has released teaser images of a new Shooting Brake version of its forthcoming G70 saloon.
The Hyundai Motor Group’s rival to BMW and Mercedes-Benz will arrive in the UK this summer, initially with the G80 saloon and GV80 SUV. They will be followed soon after by the smaller G70 and GV70.
The firm has now teased a new model with a series of cropped images showing an estate version of a camouflaged car. While Genesis hasn't named the machine, the dimensions suggest it's the G70 Shooting Brake. Protoypes of the car have been spied testing in Europe on several occasions.

Genesis Motor Europe has revealed the G70 Shooting Brake, a car designed with European customers in mind.
The new Genesis G70 Shooting Brake is based on the G70 sedan revealed in 2020, combining enhanced practicality with the brand's award-winning design.
The Shooting Brake name refers to a body style firmly rooted in European automotive history and favoured by customers in the premium luxury sector. The Genesis G70 Shooting Brake will offer greater practicality, and will further expand the Genesis line-up to meet customers' needs.
The Genesis G70 Shooting Brake is the same size as the new G70, measuring in at 4,685 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,400 mm tall, with a 2,835 mm wheelbase. Meanwhile, the luggage space is 40 percent larger than the G70 sedan and its rear seats can be split-folded in versatile 4:2:4 format.
Inheriting its design from the new G70 sedan, the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake's signature Crest Grille is set lower than the Quad Lamps, which spread outward to evoke a sprinter's pre-race posture and highlight the model's athletic design.

Just last week we brought you the news that Genesis, Hyundai-Kia’s posh brand, was to introduce its cars to Europe and the UK at some point this summer. At the time, we were also told that a specific designed-for-Europe model was on its way.
Lo and behold, here it is – the all-new, Europe-only Genesis G70 Shooting Brake.
Questionable use of the shooting brake moniker aside, it’s a very exciting thing. It looks fantastic, with a kind-of floating rear spoiler and those Genesis-signature quad LED lights front and rear. Worth remembering that Genesis’s design director is ex-Lamborghini and Bentley man Luc Donckerwolke.
For reference, the G70 SB is the same size as the saloon (itself a relative of the Kia Stinger) so measures in at nearly 4.7m long and 1.85m wide. Genesis says the estate gets 40 per cent more boot space over the saloon, although that hatch opening does look rather narrow doesn’t it?

Here's All 185 Inches Of The Stunning Genesis G70 Shooting Brake
Genesis teased the world with a hot shooting brake version of its compact Genesis G70 luxury sedan, and then it broke all of our hearts by confirming the model was headed straight to Europe. You can wash the pain away now with the fully-revealed car, which looks just as good as last week’s teasers promised.
When Hyundai decided to spin Genesis off from its a single sports car to a new luxury sedan, and then into its own entire luxury automaker, it was going to have be bold to get any attention. While we had a lot of respect for the Genesis G70 sedan for initially offering a six-speed manual transmission when it went on sale, ultimately that was abandoned due to poor sales. So it’s no wonder the automaker isn’t even going to try us with a shooting brake.
The European G70 shooting brake, and they’re calling it that and not a wagon so I’m going with it, is fundamentally the same as the G70 sedan, except Genesis claims it now has 40 percent more cargo volume in the back. The automaker developed the model exclusively for Europe as a sign of its “dedication” to the market after announcing plans to introduce sales in the region this summer.

The wagon market is all but dead in South Africa but up north in Europe, traditional estate cars still sell in decent enough volumes to justify the development of new ones.
The latest protagonist comes from Hyundai’s premium brand Genesis and it’s a Shooting Brake version of the G70 sedan that competes with the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class in certain global markets.
The new wagon comes just in time for the Genesis brand’s launch in key European markets later this year, starting with Germany, Switzerland and the UK. The Genesis brand is currently not available in South Africa, however, and there is no word on whether this will change at any point.
Fully cognisant of the market it competes in, the Genesis G70 is built on a rear-wheel drive platform. Genesis hasn’t mentioned the engine line-up for the Shooting Brake as yet, but it’s likely to mirror the sedan in offering a 2.2-litre turbodiesel with 148 kW and 441 N.m, as well as a 185 kW 2-litre turbopetrol and 272 kW 3.3-litre twin-turbo petrol.

Genesis (the posh branch of Hyundai-Kia that recently started selling cars in the UK and Europe) has unveiled two motorsport concepts in collaboration with Gran Turismo, and we’re very much on board.
Brilliant looking things, aren’t they? The four-door G70-GR4 gets yellow headlights, a chunky front splitter, turbofan wheels and a MASSIVE rear wing, whilst the X-GR3 – based on the lovely looking X Concept coupe – gets an even bigger wing, an even more prominent splitter and very wide arch extensions. GR3 and GR4 are Gran Turismo e-sports classes that essentially mirror the real-life FIA GT3 and GT4 classes, by the way.
Genesis is strangely being rather coy about the concepts, though. SangYup Lee, head of global Genesis design, said: “We are pleased to be presenting this vehicle (the G70-GR4) and others as we explore the brand’s entry into motorsport.”
Does that suggest its looking at real-world racing? Possibly. The G70-GR4 seems realistic for that aim. Also, there’s no word on whether either of these cars will make it into the current GT Sport game, or if they’ll be held until the launch of Gran Turismo 7. Or perhaps they might never be put into any Gran Turismo game. We simply don’t know.

The Hyundai Group’s luxury brand, Genesis, continues to expand its European line-up following its recent entry into the region, with the G70 saloon and its GV70 SUV sibling arriving in dealerships next month.
Priced from £33,850, the G70 is a direct competitor to the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series. It made its debut in the US in 2017 and has now undergone a mid-life redesign, with external tweaks most significant at the front end, where a new hexagonal grille combines with slim LED quad-headlight strips, replacing more conventional clusters.
Furthering the “athletic” visual overhaul is a new side profile in which the L-shaped chrome wing trim is replaced by a more purposeful air duct closer to the front wheel.
At the rear, the single-unit lights are replaced by two LED strips on either side, mirroring the front. A new combination mesh-and-body-colour diffuser-style rear bumper completes the overhaul, along with new wheel designs.
It's available exclusively with rear-wheel drive from launch, equipped with either a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine or a 2.2-litre diesel. An eight-speed automatic gearbox is fitted across the range.
