2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8

DUI & no insurance lol

I’m confused now, lol, I read it as that the driver of the Hyundai doesn’t have insurance, they are getting what’s coming to them when they get out the hospital.

But nothing about the ‘Vette driver not having insurance, I’m sure if they do have insurance the insurance will pay out and then deal with the Hyundai driver. Hopefully it works like that in the USA to

$58K its not that bad. Guess no one ever survived a tank driving gently.

Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 To Get High-Revving Flat-Plane Crank V8

So what should we expect from the even angrier Z06?

Well according to Car and Driver, the C8 Corvette Z06 will receive a naturally-aspirated DOHC 32-valve 5.5-litre V8. Yes, that’s the same powerplant as the Corvette C8.R race car. It will also have a flat-plane crank like a Ferrari V8 and rev between 8,500 and 9,000 rpm, so it should sound sensational.

Performance-wise, the new Z06 is actually being benchmarked against beasts like the Porsche 911 GT2 RS so we should see a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time executed in around 2.7 seconds.

Hennessey’s 650bhp Corvette has hit 205.1mph

Yee-ha! HPE’s tuned Corvette has breached the double-ton in Texas

Hennessey Performance Engineering has announced that a car has gone really quite fast indeed. No surprise, given the company’s history, but a significant one here: it’s the first mid-engined ‘C8’ Chevy Corvette, which has managed 205.1mph.

Indeed, the company has fine form in helping Corvettes breach the magic double-ton marker; the last time was in 2013 when a 700bhp HPE C7 ‘Vette did 200.6mph. Hennessey wasted little time in getting the new C8 – launched in summer last year – quite literally up to speed.

The team picked up the brand-new C8 in March this year, and quickly bolted on a stainless-steel exhaust – better sound, slightly more power – and a nitrous oxide system to boost overall power of the new mid-engined ‘Vette to 650bhp. Remember as standard, the new supercar produces 495bhp.

And lo: on 8 May (basically a week and a bit ago), 15-time SCCA National Champion and former GM performance director John Heinricy strapped himself into the tuned Corvette, aimed at a distant point on the Continental Tire Proving Grounds oval in Texas, and gunned it.

Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray confirmed for UK launch in 2021

Mid-engined V8-powered supercar priced from £81,700 in highly specified Launch Edition trim

Chevrolet has confirmed European specification details for its new C8 Corvette Stingray, which will be the first Corvette in the model's 67-year history to officially be sold in right-hand drive form.

Arriving in European dealerships in the second half of 2021, the C8 will be available in both coupé and convertible guises, from £81,700 and £87,110 respectively. All models sold here will be specified with the Z51 performance package and highly specified 2LT trim as standard.

That means all European cars will gain a number of hardware upgrades over the base-spec American car, including manually adjustable suspension, larger brake discs, an electronic limited-slip differential, a shorter axle ratio, a performance exhaust system, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres and an aerodynamically enhancing bodykit.

GM May Go All-Out On The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 With A Redesigned Exhaust: Report

Previously-leaked GM scheduling points to good odds we’re going to be seeing the mid-engine 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 very soon, and new rumors indicate we can expect active aerodynamics, and possibly even a completely-new center-mounted exhaust.

The rumored details reported by Muscle Cars And Trucks, emphasis mine:

As previously hinted from various USPTO images, the 2022 C8 Corvette Z06 is expected to integrate active aerodynamics, with adjustable wings, splitters and even side flaps that will variably adjust themselves as the American supercar negotiates braking, cornering, as well as accelerating all the way to v-max. This equipment will be optional – and likely available with the ‘Z07’ package that’s traditionally offered with the Z06 Corvette. Allegations of a large fixed rear wing for the upcoming C8 Z06 are baseless, according to our sources.

One Day Old 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Crashed In Florida

On the 2nd of April. the owner took delivery of his Sebring Orange C8 with the Z51 Performance Package. On the 3rd of April, the Corvette t-boned a black Hyundai that pulled out in front of the supercar without warning. The car seems to be a write-off and had just 221 miles on the clock.

The driver of the Hyundai was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and to make matters worse, the driver had no insurance coverage.

If you follow Rob Dahm on youtube, this car is getting repaired and going to get a 4 rotor motor.

The Rollout Of The 2020 Chevy Corvette Has Not Exactly Gone As Planned

First, there was the GM strike last year, which delayed the 2020 Chevy Corvette. Then, not long after deliveries began, the coronavirus pandemic hit, shutting down factories and delaying more production. Now, there’s a huge backlog and buyers aren’t too happy. Chevy doesn’t sound all that happy either.

Corvette buyers, or would-be Corvette buyers, are nonplussed about the fact that Chevy just can’t seem to make new Corvettes fast enough, so much so that Chevy is converting some 2020 Corvette orders to 2021s. All of which is somewhat understandable under the circumstances, until last week, when GM Authority reported that the buyers getting 2021 ‘Vettes would have to pay more for certain options, which set off a stream of angry comments from buyers who have been trying to get their hands on a new Corvette for months to no avail.

Among the price hikes are an extra $995 for the Z51 Performance Package and an extra $500 for the Front Lift Suspension, news which came after Chevy said in May said it wasn’t raising the base price.

Corvette C8 review: new Stingray arrives in Britain

Sounds properly tempting. Especially at US prices.

With the Z51 pack and adaptive dampers it’s about $70,000 plus tax over there. For comparison the 911, naked of any options, grazes $100k.

Over here it’s different. The 911 is £83k including tax but plus options. We’re promised the RHD Corvette will be £81,700 for the fully loaded Launch Edition coupe. So it matches the base 911 but hugely undercuts the other mid-engined mass-maker exotics, the Honda NSX and Audi R8.

That makes some kind of sense. The Corvette doesn’t have quite the same blissful precision as the 911, but it does come with some great spec, and a really pretty impressive set of road manners. Oh and did we mention the naturally aspirated V8?

Clive Sutton’s example has even more spec, including the carbonfibre roof and engine decor, and a nose lift, taking it towards being a $100k car in the US. It’s for sale at £132,000, reflecting the amount of effort and cost incurred by bringing a car across from the US.

Still, people will pay for jumping the queue in rare sports cars (especially if, as reported, RHD ‘Vettes are delayed). And in this case whoever buys it will be getting a good one too.

Score: 8/10
